Many people love to read the Psalms. They are very nice to meditate on in a quiet moment of the day. I like to read the Psalms at night. It's the best time for me. The house is quiet, the dishes are done and I can sit down in peace and not worry about the phone or doorbell and just sit in a comfy chair and meditate. The Psalms are rich and just a little reading goes a long way. Psalm 78:4 says this: We will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation...
Sent to me by a friend requesting I pass it along........ If Hillary wins in 2008 and Bill is 'appointed' to fill her Senate seat and either live to retire 'they' (together or alone) would get two US Presidential retirement checks, two US Senate retirement checks, and a retirement check from the State of Arkansas . About the only thing they MIGHT NOT get is a Social Security check....but I wouldn't bet on it.... I understand ole Bill has earned $40,000,000 in the past six years.

When I went to pick up my mail today, I was sure glad to see a trash can within reach. I hate bringing junk mail home with me. It just doesn't seem right that I'm forced to, in some cases, pay for mail I didn't solicit or want in the least. Today I had quite a handful. Then I get home and read the paper to see that our looking-out-for-our-best-interest-lawmakers are spending our money sending us junkmail. This is to the tune of $20.3 million dollars a year. They call it governmen...
Sometimes I just like to write about stuff. You know stuff? Here's some stuff I've been thinking, doing, complaining about or loving lately. 1. Amanda just sent the latest baby pictures. She sent Christmas and a day out with the family pics and I'm now having Baby Ethan withdrawals. What a cutie he's turning out to be Amanda. I'm still trying to figure out why there was a pic of him way down the street all by himself. Hmmmmmm? Inquring M-i-l wants to know.....lol. I can't wait u...
Everyone knows the beloved poem that begins with " Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse." But did you know who wrote this and when? Do you know the rest of the story? This very famous peom was written by Clement C. Moore on Christmas Eve in 1822. I just found out his great-great-niece lives near me. This poem is still very popular even tho it's nearing the second century mark. It's definitely a classic. Moo...
Christmas is here. Well almost. After a busy day hanging out with the boys who are here to celebrate Christmas with us we left for Christmas Eve Service. Three days ago I was asked to play the part of Mary and my husband the part of Joseph. It wasn't anything big deal, basically just readings during the Christmas program. It was to be fairly simple filled with mostly lit candles and plenty of music. I guess I was chosen to be Mary because I am the youngest in the congregation. H...
I was speaking to Gid on Loca's blog about Christmas and thought I'd ask you all out there a question. Here's a portion of what I said to Gid: Just tonight I mentioned to my husband the very noticeable amount of secular type cards we got this year. Some came from Christians, no less. I've watched this trend slowly increase each year. This year I'm going to say it's pretty much two to one; non-Christian looking cards to Christian. They usually say "happy holidays." You know, things...
Well two thirds of my brood are NOT laughing at us anymore. The other third is still laughing his head off but he's yet to visit us here in Sunny Florida. But hey....his time is coming when we can wipe the smile off his face like we did his brothers....lol. When we first told them the news of our leaving the grand ol' State of Maine for Florida they all laughed. Of course the middle son just had to say we are moving to set ourselves up to die hahahahah. Let the old jokes begin. We'v...
I'm shaking my head over this one. Where are we heading anyhow? How slippery is this slope? How much sense does this make? Everything nowadays seems to fall under discrimination doesn't it? Isn't this just another "all about me" moment? Another news story from Focus and I'm looking at the operative words here......"she" and "men's locker rooms." A student is accusing Massachusetts' Northern Essex Community College of discrimination for not allowing her to use the men’s locke...
Here's a news story today from Focus on the Family. We had similar experiences in our HS but didn't go the suit route. I'm not so sure from a Christian POV that's something we should be doing but I can totally understand the frustration. I think most Christians feel as we do. It's not like we haven't been warned. Otherwise the courts would be very crowded with cases such as this. A San Juan Capistrano, Calif., high school student and his parents filed a federal lawsuit this week...
Everyday now in the afternoon sometime I take my bike down to get the mail. I bike past the houses on my cul-de-sac and up onto the main road and then back again. Almost everyday I hear a "hello" coming from one of the neighbors I had yet to meet other than wave a friendly hello as I biked by. Well, two days ago, I finally stopped to meet this friendly neighbor. It seems he likes to sit on his front porch and keep an eye on things. He's a black man I would estimate to be in his late 6...
Have you ever opened up a gift and went....."what the heck?" I have. I've gotten some doozies over the years. Gift cards seem to be the latest rage lately. I'm thinking it's a good idea. Find a shop or quaint little restaurant that one on your gift list likes to frequent and surprise him/her with a card for a future visit. You can even wrap a small token gift appropriate for the card along with it. For instance, if you know someone who just loves Starbucks or Dunkin Donu...
Hmmm I wonder if Ethan will write something like this someday when asked what he did on his vacation? Sent to me by a friend who said this little story had us written all over it. AFTER CHRISTMAS, A TEACHER ASKED HER YOUNG PUPILS HOW THEY SPENT THEIR HOLIDAY AWAY FROM SCHOOL. ONE CHILD WROTE THE FOLLOWING: WE ALWAYS USED TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH GRANDMA AND GRANDPA. THEY USED TO LIVE IN A BIG BRICK HOUSE BUT GRANDPA GOT RETARDED AND THEY MOVED TO FLORIDA . NOW THEY ...

I'll shut up and let these guys do the singing. They can say it better than I can anyway. Link
