Sometimes I just like to write about stuff. You know stuff? Here's some stuff I've been thinking, doing, complaining about or loving lately.

1. Amanda just sent the latest baby pictures. She sent Christmas and a day out with the family pics and I'm now having Baby Ethan withdrawals. What a cutie he's turning out to be Amanda. I'm still trying to figure out why there was a pic of him way down the street all by himself. Hmmmmmm? Inquring M-i-l wants to know.....lol. I can't wait until Amanda gets here. I want to take her on the town with and without the baby just for fun.

2. I had a blast today doing something very simple and ordinary. I went biking. It's like 80 degrees and very sunny. Not a cloud in the sky and I got to bike for a whole hour. Actually lately I've been biking almost every day. Today was so warm I wished I had brought a hat because the sun was so hot on my face. I was glad I had my sunglasses with me. What a kick for me to bike at the end of December especially knowing there is like two and a half feet of snow back home on the ground and it's snowing today.

3. I had to put Son #1 on the plane today. I hate that. I love to see them come. I hate to see them go but I know also they'd drive me crazy if here full time. But I miss him already. David and I drove and dropped him off at the airport this morning. It's sure quiet without Bobby around here. He's usually keeps us smiling with his goofy laugh.

4. We played pickleball yesterday. The two boys against their (aged) parents. HA! Everytime we'd be ahead Bobby would start to get testy saying we were cheating. At one point it was like 5-0. We did manage to win one game and they won the next two but one game went into extra points because we were only one point back and forth battling. It was fun. I heard David telling his soon to be father in law over the phone how much fun pickleball is. Imagine that!!!!

5. Went to the sherrif's office building today to register our vehicle. They are alot tougher down here than in Maine. I had no trouble just going in to register the vehicle but here they even come out to check the car and odometer. So since I didn't have the car with me I have to go back tomorrow so they can take a peek at the odometer. Back home we just write down the mileage and that's it.

6. My next door neighbor planted a series of Palm trees right nearby to our line of property. This is good for us. The trees are blocking the two lanai views so we both get a nice view of the trees instead of each other's lanais and that's a good thing. It also saves me the money because she's the one who had them planted. So now I can plant my trees (when I get the money) out front or on the other side of the house and still have the benefit of those in my back yard.

7. I'm thinking of planting an orange tree. I've seen them around in yards here and there. I am wondering how much work they are to keep up. I haven't noticed any grapefruit trees tho.

8. I need to read more. I'm missing getting into a good book lately. Most of my books are still in boxes. I need to get back to my studies thru Liberty also. If I can get myself motivated maybe I can graduate with David in May.

9. We have a wedding to do Saturday. It's going to be held in a park. I've never met the bride but she knows me through her cousin who is a friend of mine. My husband is officiating and she wants me to be there as well. I've never gone to a wedding in a park before. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

10. I really really don't feel like cooking so we're having leftovers. Let's see....... we are going to have leftover ham and fresh pineapple (Florida's finest) with leftover potatoes and peas with mushrooms. I love leftover night. Not only because I don't have to cook but also just think everything taste better the next day or so.

Well that's it. Not very exciting stuff now is it? But I'll take it. It's a nice calm, quiet afternoon. David has gone down to the nearest rec center to play pool. He's had his mind on those pool tables since he saw them a few days ago. I'm not into pool but maybe with the accessibility of it now I might give it a try.

I wonder what 2008 holds in store for us? I have a feeling, knowing some of our future plans, this coming year it's going to be anything but calm for our family. So I guess it's good to take these calm moments when you can get them.

You actually numbered them. geez, I just write 'stuff' as it comes out.

#2 is one of my great pleasures in life. I very much enjoy spending time on my bent. I'm sure you're still riding one of those extremely unnatural diamond frames. Stop it! get a bent and really enjoy riding. This is the tee shirt my local bent dealer sells

This is a real bike!

Growing orange trees in florida a problem?  If they did not have fruit, they would be considered a weed down there!

I'm hoping to be in the market for a bent come tax time. Where we move, it will be a FLAT ten mile ride to town, so I'd like to get back in shape riding to work occasionally. And I agree, it AIN'T natural!

The only problem with them is a lack of water. It's been far too dry here. When one plants an orange tree the biggest demand is to keep it watered.

10 miles on a diamond frame can leave you with a sore arse, but 10 miles on a bent is just a warm up ride.

I'm hoping so! The way I figure it, not only will I be in better shape, but the money I save in gas will quickly pay for the bike if I maintain it well!

With the price of fuel now that won't take very long. You can pick up a decent new bent for under $1,000. One like mine sells for around $500 new and can be found used for about half that. Bent owners tend to take very good care of their machines so buying used is less of a risk than with diamond frames.

I actually should have a road bike here. I have a x-country bike, one which I paid decent money for. It's a $700 bike that the Trail Places around where I lived in the mountains rented so I hate to get rid of it. Around here we do road biking, not trail biking like back home..thus far at least. I can see myself on the road here for the most part so my next bike will be a road bike. I don't know what a bent bike is. I'll have to look into that Mason.

In just the five or six weeks here with all the biking and running I'm really feeling in good shape. I've even have comments as I run by the neigbors now. Today when I went out for a "hot" run one of the neighbors paced me in their vehicle commenting on my discipline. I am so loving being able to do this.

hahahah I think this goes away after a while. I used to get sore when I was first got back into biking after not biking for years. Now I go out and do an hour's worth of biking and have no problem.

Hmmmm maybe then I should make sure it's near one of my automated sprinklers then I won't have to worry as much. I sure would love to pick an orange from my backyard. That would be cool.

I actually saw one guy riding around in a bike like yours a few days ago Mason. I've never really seen one of these bikes before or knew anyone who had one. To me it looked low to the ground and well..... weird...but comfortable. He looked like he was enjoying himself. I didn't know they were called a "bent" bike. I'll have to try one sometime.

bent is short for recumbent. Most comfortable ride you can get.
