In my studies I came across this very moving story that was written up by the Moody Press in Chicago years and years ago. It was written by a Major D.W. Whittle entitled, "Willie Lear; The Substitute". Willie Lear lived near Palmyra, Missouri. In 1862 he was a young man of about 18 years of age. Like most of those who lived in his neighborhood, he sympathized with the south in the Civil War; which was at that time in progress. The Union forces occupied Palmyra and had control of th...
With all this talk about us evoloving around here....I'm not seeing it. It ain't happening. Has anyone else noticed all the multiple shootings lately? Doesn't it seem to be getting more and more frequent? I know for a fact I didn't grow up with this kind of violence. I still remember the murder of a little boy in my home state in 1982 that had us all in shock. Now it's an everyday occurance. It's so common now I'm afraid we're getting numb to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ...
I mentioned my neighbor Bill a few days ago saying how lonely I thought he might be. He's, I think around 80 or so and single living alone. His daughter lives somewhere nearby and visits often taking care of some of his basic needs especially driving him around. I haven't met her yet but have seen her car out front a few times. He's legally blind so he has no car. Although I know he has a golf cart. I actually met him at the mailboxes, about half a mile away, a few weeks ago. ...
Here's an article that I mostly agree with from a Boston Radio Talk Show Host named Gregg Jackson: Why I'm voting for Mike Huckabee Okay, maybe I'm committing professional suicide. I'm putting principle above what they're calling "party loyalty" these days. I'm putting inalienable rights endowed by our Creator above my friendships with other conservatives in the media. I'm putting real constitutions above the celebrity "conservative" lawyers who long ago figured out that defending ...
I saw this news clip today and couldn't believe how small this seemed. I mean, com'on doesn't anyone remember the story of how the Aids virus first tainted the blood supply back in the what...... 70's? Do we want to go thru that again? Do we let our blood supply diminish for fear of making a homosexual feel bad? What about the heteros who wish to donate from the confines of their university? Are they chopped liver? How far is this going to go? Lives could be at stake. San Jose...
Ya-hoo.....Huckabee won the first Super Tuesday primary. He took W. Virginia. He's been ignored quite a bit lately Now they'll have to at least give him a soundbite for this one. It won't be long before we find out who the big winner of Super Tuesday is.
So from a creationist's standpoint why did God create man? Why are we here? Some think because God was lonely but that's not true. Some think because he wanted robots to do his bidding. That's not true either because we just have to look at each other to see that is far from the truth. So why did God create man? Was it for our own purpose? His purpose? I believe man was created to demonstrate the glory of God and to fellowship with his creator. Man was given both responsibil...
There has been lots of discussion here on evolution, creation, man being made in God's image and other creation vs evolution speak. There seems to be a line drawn down the middle with good people on both sides of this line. So who has the right answer? Can we, on this side of eternity, ever know for sure? Basically three theories have been propounded to explain man's origin, 1. Atheistic 2. Theistic Evolution 3. Special Creation From a Creationist's standpoint we look a...
I love to meet new people and get to know them. There's something special about meeting a new friend and wondering if this will be one of those friendships that will click. I mean most of the time it doesn't pan out exactly. Sometimes the new friend you meet seems to be on the same page and you think it's going to be long lasting but it doesn't work out the way you thought it would Sometimes you find this newly budded friendship quickly dries up and passes by as you find yourself waving ...
With the Super Bowl in view, members of the New England Patriots are accustomed to questions about whether they would become the greatest team of all time with a victory on Sunday to cap an undefeated season. The question has prompted some Patriots to take an even longer view than NFL history. "Five years from now, nobody is going to remember who won this game and most people won't even care," Patriots wide receiver Ben Watson said as he was surrounded by media members from around the w...
We got our new golf cart last night. Yipeeeee! I've been carless for weeks now. Homebound for the most part. If I want wheels, I had to get up early to drive my husband to work and then go about my day with real power beneath my seat. Other than that I've been using my bike alot. And that's ok for me most of the time. But it's real hard to get groceries on a bicycle. So we decided to just take this new cart for a spin. We drove along unfamiliar roads we hadn't tried before a...
I have a friend in Michagan who sent this. I thought it was cute and since I've never seen it before thought I'd share it. It's a story about Forrest Gump going to heaven. Here it is. FORREST GUMP GOES TO HEAVEN The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper. St. Peter said, "Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a l...

What if Jesus Christ was never born? What would it be like here and in the rest of the world? Would it make a difference at all? It is a thought provoking question isn't it? What if Jesus had never been born? If Jesus was never born, what a difference it would make in politics. Our representative form of democracy rests on explicitly Christian principles of church and state. So do our principles of free speech and religious tolerance. In fact, the very founding of this nation was mot...
Christians have a hope they want to share with the world. Yet, that's not an easy task. The world quite often doesn't want to believe in the same hope the Christians have. Why? From a scriptural POV we're told the god of this world has blinded their eyes with sin. So now what? Do we stop? Do we stifle the desire of our hearts to show others the hope that lies within us? Sometimes we feel like we're caught between a rock and well, a hard place. We desire to show and tell others w...
