I made a meatloaf the other day to die for!!! It was the best tasting, most delicious meatloaf ever made in the history of meat loafing (even if I do say so myself). It was so good I brought it into work for lunch along with the potatoes and carrots that i baked alongside. Even the guys at work made comments as they could smell the aroma wafting thru the office via the microwave. The only problem here is, it came from one of those pre-made mixes with the plastic bag. You mix all to...
It's a cold rainy day and I thought I'd get some work done around the house before I go out this afternoon. As I was cleaning the house this morning (taking my tea break now) I noticed the signs with cute little sayings I have all around the house. Never really noticed it before in this light. I thought it would be interesting to find out what cute sayings others have in their homes as well. I'm thinking it must have some insight on who we are to have these signs hanging around our hom...
I've been thinking lately about raising children. No, I don't plan on raising anymore thank you. Been there, done that. Time to move on to other pursuits although I do admit there is no bigger and better experience to be had than to bring children into the world, watch them grow, instill values as they do and let them go, hopefully to make the world a better place. It's a lot of work but very rewarding when you're done and can look back on it. The problem is, it goes very fast. Expedie...
For any parent that has a child about to graduate or in my case marry and move away. This spoke to my heart today. The Arrow and the Bow Here is wisdom for the Moms and Dads That time has proven true The day your children learn to walk They start to walk away from you For at first you hold all of them Cradled safely in your arms Then one day their hand is all you’ll hold Then soon it’s just their heart. And there’ll even come the time If your love for them is true You...
My first child is about to be married in two and half months. Well he's actually my second son, but the first to be married. I can't believe it. Where has all the time gone? It feels like yesterday that I brought, what turned out to be, my smallest baby home eleven months after his big brother came to live with us. It's like only months ago it seemed he went from Winnie The Pooh to GI Joes to basketball and football, not to mention four years in college now coming to an end. . Boy ti...
Moms like their grown kids to call them once in a while, especially on those special days like Mother's Day. Since yesterday was Mother's Day I was wondering who would and wouldn't call. I figured my eldest and youngest were a given but unsure about the middle child. Why? Well, because he's a middle child. That and he's forgotten before. So on the way home from church we were taking bets who would call first. It wasn't much of a bet. We both hinged our bets on the same boy. We ...
I'm glad our three boys got to spend Easter together even if it was SANS parents. From what I've heard they all had a good time even tho Brian was laid up some after going thru PRK last week. Because his eyes were very sensitive to light and movement he had to spend some of the weekend in his dark bedroom trying to find some relief. David left VA on Thursday and drove the seven hours or so to KY to be with Bobby. They hung around for a while going to church together that night and le...
Don't you just love family dynamics? What is it about families anyhow? Many times we treat family members much worse than we do complete strangers. Why is that? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Why do we argue and tick each other off? Is it because we know we can and get away with it? Well sometimes that's not the case but we do seem to take more abuse from family members than we do anyone else. I guess I'm in big doggie do doo with my eldest right now. Well maybe dog doo bu...
I was just reading a portion of a book about parenting. I picked it up for my daughter-in-law. In his book Kevin Leman, a therapist, counselor and talk show host both on radio and TV, talks about three different kinds of children. The chapter in his book was titled "Which Kids Cause the Most Stress? He sees the powerful child, the avenging child and the attention getter as categories he fits them in. I have three sons. Right off I could see the avenging child and the attention g...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!! I told you you should be on the cover of a running magazine. Link "Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perserverance the race marked out for us." Heb 12:1 Continue running the race. As I say to my HS runners, keep up the good work!! You're doing great. See you on the road. LOVE, MOM

Ok, now most of you know my son is going to be having his first child. He's been told he's expecting a boy. At this point it better be, because I've bought gads of boy's clothes already. JC Penney just had an 80% off clothing sale, because they are moving to another building, and I took full advantage buying little boy's clothes clear until next summer. The big discussion now is the name. Since my son is an avid movie watcher, and I'm talking big time avid here, he's come up with the...
We've all gone through many milestones in our lives Most of them I think we barely notice or take a second thought. Some are pretty important, and we think often of those times or events that have brought either cheers or jeers to our hearts and minds. Today I was thinking of the firsts in my life. Maybe you can think of some that I've missed. First steps First day of school First sibling First best friend First time away from home First Car First Date First Kiss First real...
My son turns 25 today! So for the next three weeks or so I have two 25 year olds since my first and middle son were born 11 months apart. Happy Birthday Brian. Glad to see you made it to 25 in one piece. From my POV you've made it thru the most difficult 10 years. These last 10 years of decision making have been so pivotal in where you are today. In some ways, I can breathe a sigh of relief but as a mom I will never stop ...
