1. Believing in people usually brings out the best in them. 2. There is always another side; suspend judgment. 3. There is always a solution to every problem. Do not waste time on self-pity. 4. Be oonsiderate. Your actions affect others and other people's feelings are just like your own. 5. Be kind. Remember that other people are as intuitive as you are, and judge you just as you do them. 6. Be sincere. In the long run, everyone will find you out and judge you by your...

Ok, so it's time to take down the Christmas tree. The funny thing is it takes so long to put up, and I can have this baby down and out the door in less than a half hour. Isn't that how it is? It's pretty easy to put the bulbs and ornaments away in their rightful places, but what do I do with the gifts under the tree that just don't seem to have a place? Things like the flamigo pink plaid pj's that are a size too small? Or the Santa Candle that just isn't me? Do I put it with last y...
So it's the day before Christmas and the boys are all home. So I'm sitting here thinking about the games we'll play tomorrow. It's quite common on Christmas for us to open up a few games to play. My favorites are scrabble and cribbage. But now that I have a son that likes to use scientific words I've never heard of I'm not so sure about the scrabble idea. I may have to table scrabble until he leaves since he's the first to go back to college. Basically I play different games with...
Don't know who wrote this but enjoyed it...hope you do as well. If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing h...
My husband and I just returned from spending the Thanksgiving holiday in VA. Before meeting up with our three college boys we decided to spend a few days at one of our favorite spots....VA Beach. We both like to run so we ran the boardwalk everyday which just so happens to be the last time we will wear shorts running until sometime in May. Run we did and enjoyed every minute of it, not wanting to return to the chilly Northeast. On day two we decided to take a walk along the main drag. ...
Coaching X-Country is getting harder and harder in some ways. First of all, getting down in the mud is not the same as it used to be. Mud? Yes mud. We do a mud run every year. It just so happened it was that time of year this week. Yes we got down and dirty. The funny thing is the girls really get into it while the boys are running away afraid to get dirty. Some of the boys finally came around with the lure of pictures being taken after the fact. At one point I looked at the big puddle...
It's really easy to look at an obese person and see right away a person with no discipline and no self control. How about a drunk who staggers though town after hitting the bars every weekend? But how many of us are walking around with secret addictions that are not so easily seen? We know what they are. While we point the fingers at those whose addictions are plain to see, we make excuses for ourselves thinking we're ok because nobody knows or needs to know what we struggle with. I...
I have a question. From time to time I hear disparaging remarks made about Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson and usually they are lumped together. My question is why? What exactly is your beef with these two? I'm not a big fan of Pat Robinson, but I do admire Falwell and what he has done in Lynchburg, VA. I've not seen them personally together nor have I ever heard Falwell talk of Robinson nor invite him to his College to speak. Is it because they are so outspoken or as "religio...
I can't believe we only have one more day in July. Then we are in August!! Urggghhhh Where did the summer go? Why is it going soooo fast? I remember as a kid the summers lasted....well......forever. They dragged on endlessly so much so I couldn't wait till school started back up because I got so bored. Now I'm trying to hang on, digging my heels in trying to keep summer from slipping away without having at least some fun. So this weekend after a busy spring and early summer we had ...
Last Friday Aly's 14 year old sister Abby was in a bad jet ski accident. Aly called us, hysterical ,asking us to pray for Abby. Aly was very scared she might lose her sister. Abby fell off the jet ski as someone else was driving and hit the motor with her backside. At first they thought she was ok but then she turned very white and they called the ambulance. She ended up getting airlifted to a hospital in Wisconsin because they thought she may have internal injuries or bleeding. Aly ...
My son sent me a very strange game over the net. It's a bit weird and really creeped me out at first . It took me a while, but I've figured it out. Wanna try? Here it is. Link
Ok, if this was anybody but Tova, I probably wouldn't be doing this but she is the one who tagged me so I guess I'll cough up some moments. I'll go from lame to worse I guess. #1: My earliest memory. I was three years old. I hated dolls. I liked trucks and balls. My mom tried her best to get me to be dollified and I just wasn't cooperative. Anyway for Christmas that year she bought me a new dolly with a dollbed. She thought it would be cute if I sat on the little bed holding my dol...
Well I've written about most of the happenings this past week involving my middle son's graduation from VMI in VA. Now comes the rest of the story only this involves my youngest son David. Some of you know David from his blogging time here on JU. He has since moved away from that, being much too busy with college life and work plus trying to keep Aly smiling (which is not a hard thing to do). He and Aly came to most of the events planned for the grads and their parents. At one po...
I have too much stuff! I've had two full weekends of garage sale and still have too much stuff. Alot has gone out, but I keep finding more and more stuff to fill those empty places. I don't know what we are going to do if I don't sell all this stuff. I can see that I've got an addiction to sweaters. I have a ton of sweaters. I'm taking quite a few of my favorites but still have way too many. It's embarrasing to look at all these clothes and think about how they all belong to j...
