We're waiting for you Brian-heh!
Well two thirds of my brood are NOT laughing at us anymore. The other third is still laughing his head off but he's yet to visit us here in Sunny Florida. But hey....his time is coming when we can wipe the smile off his face like we did his brothers....lol.
When we first told them the news of our leaving the grand ol' State of Maine for Florida they all laughed. Of course the middle son just had to say we are moving to set ourselves up to die hahahahah. Let the old jokes begin. We've heard our share.
So the first son came to visit within two weeks of our move, got whipped in both Tennis & Pickleball and went home, he and his girlfriend, exhausted vowing to return for a rematch. So much for us sitting around waiting to go underground.
Then Son #3 came home last week for Winter Break. At first he kept saying "I can't believe you moved here." Then after taking him around to see the area he can't wait to get his girlfriend to come visit. She's bumming because she's in Chicago while her boyfriend is enjoying nice weather. She's trying to figure out a way to get here before the next semester starts.
David has mentioned he's not only coming here for Spring Break (a retirement community?) but also bringing home all the guys from his house, including running guru Josh. It's only for a week, how bad can it be?
There's not too many college kids who want to bring their friends home for Spring Break. So, I'm really cool with that. That's never come up before in Maine although he did want them all to come up for a week in the summer before but it never happened.
So what is it exactly that appeals to these 20 somethings? Not sure exactly but I do know they just love riding around in the golf cart. I actually thought I was going to fall out of it today the way David took those corners. It's hard to believe that when I push the pedal to the floor it goes the same speed as when he does it. It certainly feels alot faster from the passenger seat. Maybe it's just the way he takes the corners on two wheels.
When Bobby was here, I saw him, with Coutney at his side, hunched over the wheel saying somethling like "yipee, I'm in a golf cart!" Kind of reminded me of jingle bells. You know the part that says..."laughing all the way?" Yes, that was Bobby. He's the family goofball.
Today David and I went down to one of the closer rec centers and his eyes got really big when he saw the pool table room. There was about eight or ten tables all just sitting there. All brand new and waiting to be used. We were told we can come anytime and play as long as it's not on league nights. So with the big new swimming pool outside and the pool tables inside what's not to like not to mention the tennis and pickleball courts, heh!
We actually have three centers within two miles of our house. Each one is different. Each one has a pool but with different requirements. One is an Olympic sized laned pool for residents only. Two of the pools are family pools for any age and yet another pool down at our mailboxes called a neighborhood pool is for those over 30. Everything is brand new and constructed very very nicely. I've never seen anything like this. One of the centers, the nearest to us, is just about to be opened having just been newly constructed. I can't wait to check this one out to see what's in it. They do them up big around here.
So now we wait for Son #2 to come for a visit. He's the only one left who's cracking a gut with the old age jokes. Maybe we'll just take him out on the pickleball court and show him our moves...lol. Can you be gasping for breath and laughing at the same time? We'll see. Time will tell.
Sounds like a Kodak moment.
