Ok, I held my opinion until now of the new format here on JU. I actually like it now that I've used it this last week or so. At first I wasn't sure. I'm not big on changes. I'm all if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality but I do have to say I'm liking alot of the new features here. There's only two things I've seen that sort of (but work around it) bug me. The first is when I go to quote another for a response it goes to the top of my reply box instead...
These days I have been so glad to have made the choice to move South. It is so nice down here and knowing what I left behind, weather wise, makes it that much sweeter. Everyone tells us we got out just in time. Many are making plans on coming to see us. They are just sick of all this snow. Lately, we've been getting lots of phone calls and pictures over the net from friends and family back home. They are enduring a tough winter. Actually it's been pre...
Today in church we spoke about history going backwards to the Reformation. One of the topics was on martyrs and how many have died for Christ over the centuries. Many died for no other reason than telling others about him or daring to share with another the word of God. One of the ladies asked what the difference was between a martyr and the Islam extremists blowing themselves up for their faith. I explained that a Christian died by him or herself for their b...
We've been discussing quite a bit here on Evolution Science vs Creation Science and the differences in interpretation and free speech for those who have a diff take on this interpretation of evidence. Recently I came across this article which gives a realistic view of what kind of politics a Creationist Scientist is up against in the Science field. When you read this keep in mind that the journals Science and Nature are considered the two best journals in the world to publish in...
I would just like to clear up something for future discussions about Evolution vs Creation Science. There are some things that are agreed upon and others not. So I thought I'd list them for future reference. Creationists do not dispute: natural selection microevolution variation within species existence of fossils extinction genetics homology (as proof of a common designer) Creationists reject: millions of years earth history megaevolution: mole...
A while back in my studies thru LU I did a study on Hell. Most of it I was familiar with since Hell, Sheol or Hades is a big subject mentioned in the bible frequently. Anyhow since I did a summary of Heaven it only makes sense to give Hell some equal time. Here goes. There are many doctrines in scripture and the one most denied or questioned undoubtedly is the doctrine of Hell. There are basically three methods Satan uses often seen in either unbelieve...
I just saw an interesting trailer to an upcoming movie. At the end it carries an interesting warning to anyone who dares to watch this. The movie is called "Expelled. " Have you heard of it? It's coming out this Spring and I plan on going to see it. Take a peek and let me know what you think. Here it is. Link
Somebody was asking me about Heaven the other day so I thought I'd explain this wonderful place with a scriptural summary. Both Heaven & Hell are usually ignored, ridiculed or denied by most in our world today. In his book " The Biblical Doctrine of Heaven" Dr. Wilbur Smith lists two quotes regarding this. One is from a theologian and another a Scientist about this subject of heaven. "It is unwise for Christians to claim any knowledge of either the furniture of Heaven or the temper...
I just saw a very unlikely alliance on Utube. It's one that should speak to all of us. If natural born enemies like a crow and a cat can be buddies what does that say for the rest of God's creation? Take a look........you will not believe this unless you see it with your own eyes. Link
Today is Valentine's Day........ just in case somebody forgot. We were married 26 years ago today. Yes, I know. It's sappy. It's gone by in a literal flash. I can't believe how fast time flies. I've been told it only gets faster as you age. So that means the next 26 years will be a blur I guess. Anyhow I was thinking back about that day and wondering how my maid of honor is doing today. From time to time I think about her. I'm not sure life has been as kind to Patty as i...
"And the Lord sent thee on a journey and said Go and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites and fight against them until they be consumed." 1 Samuel 15:18 Why was this command given? What kind of a person could follow such a God who advocated this? Is the God of the OT different than the God of the NT? Why the command to exterminate all men, women and children belonging to the seven or eight Cannanite nations? How could God approve of the blanket destruction, at times, of th...
I hope my son reads this today. He's in the doghouse with mom right now. He loves to play games and I don't especially unless we're talking Monopoly or Scrabble. Last Friday he told me that on Monday they would know the sex of their new baby. She's due in July. So yesterday I asked him what he knew. After playing a cat and mouse game for a bit, I chewed him out. He replied that he liked surprises! Gah! So I know nothing. Since he told me Amanda is choosing NOT to know...
Today Mick Huckabee worshipped with my son David. Mike was at TRBC this morning. He gave his testimony and the place was packed. Mike sat in the front row and the media was swarming all over the place. Earlier this week Aly got to interview Ron Paul. My future daugther in law just got a job for a TV Station. She will be a reporter and my son David just got a sport's editing job for a local medium sized newspaper. It's a huge job opportunity for him that just dropped out of the sky. ...
It's been said that the two greatest questions of life are "where did life come from?" and "what is the purpose of this life?" Many different philosophers throughout the centuries have attempted to answer these questions basically coming down to six different viewpoints. 1. Atheistic- Atheism says that everything comes from nothing. There is no God. There is no purpose in life. Might makes right as Hitler believed. There is no absolute rule as there is no God to dictate such rule...
Did you hear the latest news about the upcoming Olympics in China? There seems to be alot of controversy surrounding this world wide event. My son, who is an assistant sports editor for a newsroom, said there is much coming over the news wires right now about this. They may be canceling much of the Olympic activities due to pollution. All the endurance events may be canceled. Events such as running, biking and any outdoor activity would be squashed. He's wondering how Josh is goi...
