I have too much stuff! I've had two full weekends of garage sale and still have too much stuff. Alot has gone out, but I keep finding more and more stuff to fill those empty places. I don't know what we are going to do if I don't sell all this stuff. I can see that I've got an addiction to sweaters. I have a ton of sweaters. I'm taking quite a few of my favorites but still have way too many. It's embarrasing to look at all these clothes and think about how they all belong to j...

We had a short opportunity to host a Chinese family this past weekend. Well we didn't exactly know we would get a whole family when we offered to help but that's who came. Gaofeng, Jingjing and Luke (Xiyu). An email went out earlier in the week requesting homes for about a dozen or so Chinese visiting from Boston. So since we had two vacant bedrooms I said I could take at least two. I didn't even hesitate which is kind of funny with the packing and yard sale stuff going on but r...

Continuing on with Chapter 10 in its entirety. Here it is: 1I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4Now when the seven thunders uttered their ...

I'm getting ahead of myself here only because I lost all my notes for Revelation 9:1-12 but will get my act together and put that on hopefully soon. I'm skipping ahead, so I can continue with the next two sections. This section is Revelation 9:13-21. Here's the text: 13Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Eu...

My boys love to tease each other. They can be merciless sometimes looking for creative ways to make fun of each other. Of couse this is all done in fun. They are so darn competitive in every area of life this ribbing is no exception as they try to find ways to outdo the other. Recently the middle son went on a mission to New Mexico for the AF to work on a project. Since my eldest wasn't quite sure what his younger brother was doing exactly he has now speculated on the real reason for...

A few updates on the latest in my life lately to tie up some earlier threads right here on good ol' JU. First and I'm thrilled to report this: Amanda called today to tell me that Ethan is sleeping a whopping 13 hours a night now ever since she got home. She puts him down at about 7 pm and he's sleeping all the way till 8 am. He's a much happier baby she said. Yes, the little experiement worked for all the nay sayers out there!!! When he went home, the first night he slept his fi...

Many are very familiar with Romans 8:28. I hear it quoted often. It goes like this: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 Not all things are good. Many things seem very bad or go wrong in our lives. As Christians we need to always think of the unseen hand in our lives and not get shook up when bad things happen to us on occasion. When something bad happens to me I think of the...

It finally happened! I had words with one of our runners and it wasn't pretty. I was told to "chill" by a 15 year old girl. I wasn't pleased. Not by a long shot. In fact, I was steaming mad to say the least. Chill? Not happening! Nope. Too steaming mad for that to take place. We have a master manipulator on our team. She's one of our top three runners and one with attitude. It was bound to come to a head given the circumstances the last few weeks. We had a meet yes...

I hate goodbyes. It's hard to see loved ones leave and know it'll be a while till you see them again. Amanda and Ethan have left after a wonderful five weeks of getting to know each other. Of course Ethan had no clue who we were. We hadn't seen him since he was a month old. He arrived as an almost 10 month old and left at 11 months of age. And Amanda who has known us for eons.....well actually about one third of her young life now had a chance to really get to know her in-laws up ...

Family Programming. Remember those two words? Well I guess I kind of forgot about them myself until I recently read an article about this. I guess not having little kids around I've lost touch with Family Programming and instead have gone the way of game, reality and news shows. The only drama I really watch anymore is "Cold Case." Is there really such a thing as a "Family Time Slot" anymore? Whatever happened to the family hour of TV? Whatever happened to the family friendly...

Here we go to the next level of judgment as we look a bit closer at the 4 Trumpets about to blow. We are looking at Revelation 8:6-13 6So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. 7The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. 8Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thr...

Today was an interesting day. Up at 4 am to catch a 5 am bus for a HS x-country meet. We had a long drive to Manchester, NH for a huge event we do every year. Many races in the day of which we participated in four total. It was a very nice day for these races, overcast and cool. Actually we had quite a bit of fog that carried us through at least 11 am. When the sun finally broke free, the temps rose as expected. But all in all a nice day to be outside. I ran up the same start, a...

My Grandmother was here the other day. She's getting very old now and has a habit of repeating herself alot. She came here to see the great-great-grandbaby Ethan. This is her first great-great. She hasn't been up here to see me in years. She doesn't drive, and she lives quite a ways for her to go out so I usually visit her when I can. She's a flaming red-head with a boisterous laugh. My mother calls it the witch's cackle. Ethan was actually aftraid of her. She's been like this f...

We are moving. We are packing up and heading south. We should arrive in the Villages, Florida sometime in November. Florida is probably the last place we'd ever expected to be and in Golf Cart Land no less. And we don't even golf!!! Today was a sad day. Today was the day we told the church the news. Lots of crying from the pulpit to the back row. Everyone was stunned. You could have heard a pin drop. I heard a few very audible "oh no's" from the back and it nearly broke my heart...

Moving along we come to Revelation 8:1-5 which says: When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the ...
