Today was the big day. For some this was the big race of the year. The day they have been training months for. For others it's a day just to enjoy the crowds and hoopla surrounding this very talked about race content to just finish. It's called Beach to Beacon or B2B and today was the 10th anniversay of this most successful race. It starts at the entrance of a beach and ends at a very famous Lighthouse in Maine. If you see the Lighthouse landscape pictures of the Northeast most ...
Now we're back on track starting with Revelation Chapter 5. Here's the text for 1-7: 1And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. 4So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and r...
I don't even have to ask people out there how they'd feel if the government decided to fund Christian Public Schools. Time and time again we've seen the threat of loss of funds if a particular college doesn't wipe from their campus every trace of what would be considered a Christian idea or program. I've already mentioned here about VMI losing their right to pray at mealtimes with federally funded dollars at stake. They complied. No more prayer. Their more than 100 year tradition wa...
I have never traveled on an airplane with a very young child. The first time my children flew they were well into grade school the oldest already in middle school. That was the year we went to Oregon/Washington looking for a possible job relocation. In about three weeks or so my D-I-L is flying for the first time with baby Ethan who will be just shy of 10 months. Can you believe it already? Ten months!! They are coming here for a whole month!!! Anyhow she's a bit nervous abou...
I am in training....sort of. I have a huge 10K on Saturday. I've only run two races (5K) so far this summer, not nearly enough to be at all competitive for such a large race. I managed to do hillwork tonight, and it was brutally hot and humid. I was glistening big time after this very hot workout. I passed my husband as I was running down the hill and he was absolutely soaked as he huffed and puffed his way up after running his circuit of seven. This race, put on by Joan Benoit, ...
I have a new daughter! Yes. It's about time. I've been wanting a girl like.....forever!! She's almost seven and is from Uganda. Her name is Ellen. She lives with her mother, one brother and two sisters. Her real mother struggles to provide for the family. Ellen likes to play games and helps her family by sweeping floors. She does not go to school yet. When I was at the Woman of Faith conference, they hosted World Vision looking for sponsors in communities severely affe...
It's been a while since I blogged on Revelation, and I went ahead a bit but now I want to go back and do that last church we skipped over. This church is called Laodicea and is well known for its lukewarm temperature. This is the seventh church in the series of seven along the postal route of Asia Minor. Here's the text from Revelation 3. 14“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creat...
My son wrote this as an assignment. Not sure who will like this more, the women or the men! It’s a problem that affects all Americans, no, affects all humanity worldwide. It is a predicament that spreads from generation to generation that puzzles mankind. It is the ultimate riddle for man- what to do with your woman. For centuries man has debated, not on how to treat a woman of favor, who our mothers have always taught to treat with respect and honor, but instead with how to d...
The weekend looms ahead. Let the noise level begin. Yep. It's just me and the girls. Like 52 girls to be exact. Well, make that thousands when all is said and done by the end of this very girlie weekend. I'm headed to Boston for the largest women's conference ever, "The Women of Faith" are in town and we're going! It starts tomorrow and runs until Saturday. This has been a year in the planning. I went last year and it was alot of fun. Noisy. Chatty. Giddy. Yes all that a...
This was a very busy week. For the most part, I planned for and played with children of all ages. We had VBS and I was the recreaction teacher. Every year we get bigger and bigger. We are growing by leaps and bounds. Boy, am I tired. I am usually pretty high energy but the little munchins got me beat. I didn't even run much this week. Too tired! I can't even imagine the moms who are my age and just starting out. I have many friends my age with kids still in grade school. Ugg...
I'm a bit upset as to what is happening in NH right now. A gunman went on a rampage and killed three innocent people in a store. He had mentioned earlier to friends that he just wanted to kill somebody, literally. So he went into this store, shot the manager, a well liked young man, who had two small children, an 8 year old daughter who misses her daddy and a 1 year old son. He also killed two best friends from childhood who stopped into the store on their way home from a hike. All ...
Speaking in December 2006 at a Holocaust memorial ceremony in Berlin, Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said: "We have learned and memorialized the lesson; the weak and defenseless are doomed. Doomed are they who do not believe those who threaten to eradicate them. Doomed are they who remain complacent and do not prepare themselves to thwart the danger. Doomed are they who entertain the false illusion that they could escape harm and that they could rely on the mercy of strangers ." ...
On the way to church this morning I saw a bear. Yep. Right on the side of the road. He looked like he was sitting there munching on something....blueberries maybe? I slowed down and watched him as I went by. He looked at me and then slowly got up as I drove by. In my rear view mirror I saw him cross the road. No other cars behind me. It was an interesting sight to behold seeing this big black bear on all fours crossing a country road. Just me and the bear. Nobody else was around. ...
Since I've been stirring the pot a bit lately, I thought I'd put out something a bit more bland but informative at the same time. Even if you're not a runner as I am, certainly you've come into contact with runners as you buzz around town in your automobiles. If so, I just wanted to give you some helpful hints on how to help that next guy or gal you see huffing and puffing down the street. These things may not even have occurred to you unless you've done a bit of running yourself. So...
Here are some current events I'm eyeballing right now. A few days ago Missouri Gov Matt Blunt signed a bill that abortion providers will NOT be allowed to present information about sexual health in the state's public schools. Hooray for Governor Blunt. Going against the powerful PP is not easy. He said: "All life is precious and needs to be treated with the utmost dignity and respect, I will continue working with the Missouri General Assembly to pass strong pro-life legisla...
