I just saw this video a friend sent me on the 2nd Amendment.     What else can be said after this?  The speaker sure had some interesting thngs to say about this subject.  If anyone has a right to speak out on this amendment, this lady did.    This is well worth seeing.  Well spoken.  http://video.google.com:80/videoplay?docid=-4069761537893819675&pr=goog-sl

Lately on a few blog sites including my own I've quoted Ronald Reagan and his opinion about the abortion issue.  He said we should err on the side of life basically.  We don't bury a dead person unless we know for sure he's dead, so why kill the unborn when we question when life begins?  Shouldn't we be absolutely sure before we pick up that knife?  Here's a story that kind of blends the two thoughts, abortion and death together.  Anyhow did you hear the latest com...

I was surprised to wake up to the news.  No, not the VP selection from Obama's camp.  Biden seemed pretty likely I guess since his name was in the mix all along.  So that didn't surprise me.  What did surprise me is the rage coming from the Catholics over this choice.  What did they expect?  Obama is probably the most extreme abortion supporter I've seen in a politician to date.  He's promising, if he's elected, to get rid of any bans or anything that w...

I am axiously awaiting the naming of the VP positions especially for McCain.  There still could be a chance I'm not going to the polls this year.   Hopefully this won't happen but alot hinges on the VP choice McCain makes. During this past weekend's Q&A with Rick Warren of the Saddleback church John McCain answered very simply to the "when does life begin"  question.  He came right out and said life begins with conception.  Obama, on the other hand, g...

Yep.  Our very first hurricane as Floridians is coming directly at us.  All reports have it coming right over us. I'm excited but only because I know it's only a Category 1 and there should be minimal damage hopefully.  Hurricanes, especially living inland, don't bother me so much but I'm scared out of my mind when I think about tornadoes.  They scare the heck out of me.  They did say, however, we would have tornado warnings, as a result of this hurricane.  So...

Two down, one to go.  With two sons now married, David just newly married in May, we've been saying "two down."  I'm hearing wedding bells off in the distance once again.  Our eldest son just asked his girlfriend Courtney to marry him this past weekend.  They haven't set a date but April could be a possibility.  Turns out it was this same day last August that David proposed to Aly and almost the exact hour David said. It seems as tho poor Bobby...

Have you ever opened your mouth and thought to yourself almost immediately "why did I say that?"  How about "I can't believe I said that?"   I have lots of times.  I'm pretty good at it actually.  How many times have our big traps got us into trouble?   A little tongue can do big damage. Maybe that's where "a slip of the tongue" comes from.  It can destroy families, friendships and even communities.  A person's reputation can be slandered for ...

It's said the greatest and most profound idea the human mind can ever entertain concerns the possiblility of the existence of a personal God.  How we respond to this affects not only our life down here but will also determine our ultimate destiny.  If we can't resolve the "who" question we cannot possibly solve the "why" "what" and "where" problems of our own existence.  I believe that all mankind has some idea of a Supreme Being even if they choose not to acknowledge this...

I came across this true story recently.   I've never heard of Irene Sendler before but admire her courage and dedication to her fellowman.  Lula especially would like this story because Irene was a Catholic Social Worker.  Anyhow, this is a very condensed story about her.  More can be found by googling her name.  Pretty gutsy woman!   The end is like a kick in the face....but doesn't matter.  God will reward this woman and the riches of th...

I love Pizza.  It's probably one of my favorite foods.  By the end of next August I'm wondering if I'll be really really sick of it.  Yesterday we had a grand opening of Cici's.  For those not familiar with this chain, it'a an all you can eat Pizza, Pasta, Salad and Dessert Buffet.  All for $5.49 plus tax.  If you want soda they said it's another $1.30 or you can get all the ice water you want.  We didn't have Cici's in the Northeast that I'm aware o...

A friend from VA sent me this and I thought it was cute but also a very simple way to put things.  Funny how things can change when it becomes personal doesn't it?  *********************************************** I'm reminded of the time that Catherine - a little girl in  our neighborhood - told me that she wanted to be  President one day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats , were standing there with  us, and  I asked Catherine, "If you ...

I think I know why older people get fat.  Really.  The kids are gone so that means the food doesn't disappear like it once did.  They were like human vacuum cleaners.  Cleaned up anything and everything in sight.  I used to have to hide food.  Seriously.   So that left us with a problem.   It's an either eat it or throw it mentality now.  Since I just loathe throwing food away, guess where that leaves me?   Y...

One of our church members back home in Maine sent me this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvDDc5RB6FQ    It's very powerful.  Our church back home is going to incorporate this cardboard testimony idea in their Praise in the Park that we started last year.  I thought it was a great idea.  Last year on Labor Day Weekend in our local park we set up tents and gave away hundreds of free grilled hotdogs, chips and drinks ...

It's funny because I was just thinking a few days ago about writing something about love when I saw the recent flurry of "love blogs."   Love is an interesting subject because I think most people never really think about what genuine love is all about.  We get caught up in the emotion of love but is that truly what love is?  We say we love our truck, or our dog.  I love ice cream and warm days.  Then we use that same word to say "I love you Honey."  So what ...

I went to Chick-fil-A recently for really the first time.  The food was actually pretty good.  I got a grilled Chicken Sandwich and some fresh squeezed lemonade and thought it was quite yummy.   Definitely one of my new favorite fast food places up there with Subway, the best.  Anyhow read this in the news today and wondered how many of us would have been this forgiving?  I'm sure the parents were grateful.  I wonder if these girls appreciate what was don...
