Now It's Time to Name Her

Lately on a few blog sites including my own I've quoted Ronald Reagan and his opinion about the abortion issue.  He said we should err on the side of life basically.  We don't bury a dead person unless we know for sure he's dead, so why kill the unborn when we question when life begins?  Shouldn't we be absolutely sure before we pick up that knife?

Here's a story that kind of blends the two thoughts, abortion and death together.

Anyhow did you hear the latest coming out of Israel about the miracle baby?

According to Yahoo News a 26 year old in Israel was forced to deliver her baby at 23 weeks along because of internal bleeding.  I think they call that spontaneous abortion.   Anyway when the baby was born, the doctors pronounced her dead.

She weighed only 600 grams (1.5 pounds).  She was taken to the hospital's refrigerator unit until the parents could take her for burial.  She was left there alone for at least five hours.

When the parents went to pick up their dead daughter for burial,  they saw movement.  They unwrapped the baby, and she grabbed onto the mother's hand and opened her mouth.  Pretty cool!  Can you imagine?

Now they're saying the cooler's cold temps probably was the reason the baby survived, slowing down her metabolism.

The hospital's director says they don't know how to explain this.  So when they can't explain it medically they call it a miracle.

The baby was taken to the neonatal intensive care for further treatment.

Now the question in my mind is what do you name a miracle baby?

If it were a boy I think I'd call him Moses.  But since it's a girl I'm not so sure.  I was never very good at picking out girls names!

Cool story.  To go thinking you were picking up the body, and then have the little one be alive!  AWESOME.

Though kids born that small usually have tons and tons of problems through out their lives.  But maybe her luck will hold.
