For those who are gung-ho about Obama I'd like to challange you to a little test.  Do you really know how your beliefs line up with his?  Or are you just swayed by his talk and looks with no real thought to what Obama really stands for?   It's a 48 question test.  Let's see how you do.  I took the test and no surprise I got this as my answer:    You DISAGREED with the Barack Obama position on 48 of the 48 test questions. This means you disa...

Fair Warning to Palin By Robert Knight Well, don't say she hasn't been warned. Sarah Palin cannot make even one mistake in Thursday's debate or she will be cooked.    George Stephanopoulos said so Monday on ABC's Good Morning America : "Picking up on what Kevin Madden said in David Wright's piece: Number one for Sarah Palin, she cannot make a mistake. A major mistake particularly on foreign policy would be absolutely fatal to her candidacy." Good Morning...

Two new movies.  Two polar opposites.  Would you care to guess which two?  I'm referring to Religulous and Fireproof .  Have you heard anything about them?  Bill Maher is on a media tour promoting his new movie Religulous .   He was even invited to "The View" recently.  Imagine that.  I wonder if he was given the same treatment as McCain?  I don't watch "The View" so I wouldn't know for sure .  Maher calls this film ...

The house is finally quiet.  I could actually hear a roach scurry across the floor (if there were any) now that the two babies have flown away with their parents. It's been a very noisy and busy week in this household. We went from a family of two to a family of six for about eight days. I'm still finding toys here and there. I also found a cloth diaper in the dryer this morning. Just about the time you start to get into a routine it's time to switch gears again. Now quiet is restored...

This financial crisis we are experiencing didn't just happen overnight and it's not going to be gone anytime soon.  Let's go back to September 1999 and read a piece from the NY Times for the rest of the story.  This is where it all started.   Read this carefully.  The emphasis  is all mine.  Everyone is forgetting that Franklin Raines was going to be in charge of Obama's VP selection committee.  Hello?  What does that tell you?  Anyhow here's the a...

It was the annual "Summerfest" in a community about 60 miles west of Chicago. We were expecting rides and cotton candy, but were greeted instead by tractors and a pork chop dinner. The crowd was populated by just plain folks — old and young, enjoying the easy camaraderie of small town life. One family stood out. It was a mom and dad with a boy about eight I'll call "Johnny."    We had come to see a Chicago band, awkwardly positioned on a flatbed truck, who didn't disappoint...

When I went to see Sarah Palin on Sunday we were fooled. About two hours before Sarah was to show up, a Sarah Palin lookalike walked right past us and was escorted thru the barrier to go into the Market Square.  She was dressed like Sarah.  She had her hair done up like Sarah and with those glasses she was a dead ringer for Sarah.  So we all got excited.  As we watched this imposter walk up towards the crowd who had their backs to her because they were fa...

You have to understand Alaskans have their own set of values....got this from a friend in VA....  The  Pope In Alaska The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the rugged mountains of Alaska for some sightseeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope Mobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a 'Save the Whales' hat and a 'To Hell with Bush T-shirt, was ...

I had the priviledge to sweat for Sarah yesterday along with about 60,000 other people who came from near and far to catch a glimpse of this little lady as she came to our neighborhood.  It was worth it.  Here's a few observations on the day. It was very crowded.  More than was expected showed up to this party.  Many came hours early to get a good spot only to find themselves in a very long line that snaked around the town for about two miles.  When we biked into...

The headlines in our local paper were big.  PALIN IS COMING TO THE VILLAGES!  So today I got my four allowed free tickets and I'll be heading down to the square to see Sarah Palin in person on Sunday.  I heard they are expecting about 30,000 people.  Where in the world are they going to put them? They're telling us to drive to the square on our golf carts. Parking is going to be a problem.   We are going to do better than that.  We're going to bike. ...

This is ridiculous.  This is the latest attack on Palin.  When will this stop?  Are they trying to drive her crazy?    Hackers broke into the Yahoo! e-mail account that Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska's governor, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate. "This is a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a ...

Ok, I already said I have too much time on my hands.  There's lots I could do today and I need to get my butt off this chair and get going.  I have a large flat of flowers to plant.  I have five big pots of mums to do something with and I need to get an ironing done before the rush of much company comes next week.  Brian, Amanda and the two grandbabies are coming next week.  It should be a fun plane trip with two babies.  At least this time Amanda has help. ...

I'm wondering how the latest financial news from Wall Street is going to affect all of us in the long run.  I wonder if my kids will be able to get loans for new homes or will it now take an act of congress to be that first time home buyer.  Obviously the financial institutions made some very bad decisions which is going to affect us all.  We saw this coming  especially being in the accounting business and knew it was only a matter of time.  I reme...

I've been here 10 months so far and the time has both flown by in some aspects and seems forever at other times.  During this time I've...... 1.  Made some new friends, but in a slow kind of way.  Am not the big party girl type.  2.  Have enjoyed decorating my new home and planting new flowers in my front yard 3.  Have stepped up my activity  by biking and swimming but have run less mileage and no road races 4.  Have actually seen the boys...
