IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME AGAIN!! We left more than two weeks ago, our longest vacation ever. We had a blast for the most part although we did manage to wreck one transmission, get sick and maybe deal with one stress fracture. But all in all we had a good time. We started off heading straight to Hilton Head, SC. I woke up that morning with a cold to be. By the time we reached our destination I had a full blown head cold. Hilton Head.....our new favorite place. It was gorgeous the whole...

Well it's finally over. We had our last meet, the big one on Saturday. We went to the every exciting State Meet in the northern part of our state and ran our best. Our last week was one of anticipation and unitedness. All the girls stuck it out together regardless if they were invited to the big dance or not. We can only put our top seven runners in and we had thirteen girls. The other six were a great support system for the Varsity team. We had some very good runs this past wee...

My very good friend sent me this.....too funny and since we just had a new grandson who just had this done, pretty timely. Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on beds next to each other, Outside the operating room. The first kid leans over and asks, What Are you here for?" The second kid says, "I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a Little nervous." The first kid says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that one When I was four. They put you to...

A friend sent me this devotion today. Thought it was worth sharing. It reminded me of what Paul said in his letter to the Romans. ...."For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Rom 15:4 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come." Isaiah 35:3-4 Someone wisely said, "God do...

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the 'beginning'." "Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God. "Well, " says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man." "Well, that's interesting Show Me. " So the scientist bends down to the earth an...

Have you ever had a Good News/Bad News type of day? Well today was sort of like that for me. Bad news first. Today was supposed to be our State Meet. Because of the impending weather, our meet was canceled yesterday. Now this is only done like once in 10 years sort of thing. We knew it was going to be bad, rainy and muddy but we thrive on the mud so that didn't bother us too much. I wasn't actually looking forward to standing out in the pouring, windy, rainy weather but you gotta ...

What a day!! It was a busy one. It started out in a rush as I hurried out of the house to pick up a friend that needed a ride from the auto repair shop. Together we went to the study that I lead on Thursday mornings. After that was over and a few errands were had, I went to the scrapbook club and scrapped for a few hours. I have been working on my son Brian's scrapbook since about February of this year and am finally getting to his first grade year. I've really got to get on the ball ...

One of the most frequent arguments leveled against the infallibility of the Bible is based upon the fact that the Bible was written by human authors. Human beings are fallible. Since the Bible was written by these fallible human beings, it necessarily follows that the Bible is fallible. Or so the argument goes. As Roman Catholic theologian Bruce Vawter writes, "A human literature containing no error would indeed be a contradiction in terms, since nothing is more human than to err." Alt...

This is where the rubber meets the road. Today was the day that counted. Today was the day all the teams in the state met for their regional meets. Today was the day opportunites were turned into triumph. Today was the day we earned a State berth. YES, WE MADE IT!! Our team will be going to States again this year. In the last seven years we've made the trip six times. Two years ago, we were more than a bit disappointed not to be in the position we found ourselves in today. ...

Today was another gorgeous day. I can't believe our good fortune this fall. It's been near close to perfect. The colors on the trees are fabulous. I took the last of what was left of my film today. I was on the way out and stopped my car halfway down the road, got out to take a shot of the colors with the mountains in the background. It was early in the am and it was a clear bright morning with the sun just coming up and it was awesome to see the early morning sun hitting the colorful b...

There seems to be some sense of belief that the God of the OT is not the same God of the NT. Is there two different concepts of God? Does the OT present only a God of wrath, while the NT deals only with God's love and mercy absent the wrath? Well we do see OT stories of God's commanding the destruction of Sodom, the annihilation of the Canaanites, the killing of the firstborn Egyptian babies and other such stories. So the accusers claim this proves a primitive, warlike deity which tot...

What a dog I have!! He's the type that you read about in Reader's Digest after being buried in someone's back yard. In this case it could be titled, "My Dog Quincy, A Dog You Hate to Love" Everyone should have at least one dog like this in their lifetime. If for no other reason, it gives you something to talk about. When he's not in trouble, he's the most loveable dog you'd ever met. He's loved by everyone who meets him. He's loaded with personality and he smiles when he gets in troub...
