Life Happens

What a day!! It was a busy one. It started out in a rush as I hurried out of the house to pick up a friend that needed a ride from the auto repair shop. Together we went to the study that I lead on Thursday mornings. After that was over and a few errands were had, I went to the scrapbook club and scrapped for a few hours. I have been working on my son Brian's scrapbook since about February of this year and am finally getting to his first grade year. I've really got to get on the ball since I have so many scrapbooks I want to do. I'm on this weekly thing now so that should help. I've worked on this for the last three weeks in a row.

Then I rushed to practice. It's winding down. States is in two days and it's supposed to be miserable. We are expecting a big storm with high winds. It's going to pour. It's not going to be pretty. We expect mud and lots of it. Oh well, that's sort of like our type of course anyhow. We are not froo froo gals anyhow. The mudier the better. Bring it on. When this happens, anything can happen. We are not the favorites and are hoping to place in the top five this year. But anything can happen especially when this type of weather comes into the play. We'll see.

Anyhow our team played Capture The Flag for two hours. I was sort of dreading it. It was a cold day and windy. My thought was, let's just run and get practice over with. But I actually had a great time with the kids. It was alot of fun. I never played this game before. We broke up into two teams. Each team had a sweatshirt that served as a flag. The flag was put on each home territory out in the open and protected by team members. Since we run, and running was the whole point, the territory of both sides was huge. We played in a big empty fairground with lots of buildings to sneak around.

The goal of course was to capture the other team's flag and run back onto safe territory and win the game. If you were caught on enemy territory, and got tagged you went to jail. Of course the jail was on the other team's property. You could get untagged by your teammate risking his freedom to untag you. At one point half our team was in jail, and it was so heavily guarded it took us a while to get to them. A lot of plotting goes on in this game. A lot of sneaking around, a lot of running, a whole lot of teamwork, and of course with all this went lots of hollering to "watch out" "behind you" "over there" "and just plain "help." I got our fastest girl good when I hid around a building that I saw her heading behind, and when she came around the corner,I tagged her actually by grabbing her. Since I couldn't outrun these fast young legs, I had to use brainpower over leg power to get the job done. I actually got the fastest girl and the fastest boy doing this. Felt pretty good about that.....until they got out of jail by their as sneaky teammates.

It was alot of fun. Never played this when I was a kid. I remember playing football with the neighbor boys, tag with everybody, kickball, baseball, kick the can etc. Around here Capture the Flag is big.

So after practice I came home, and since I was alone decided to wrap Christmas presents as I made dinner. Yep. I started a couple of weeks ago putting things aside for Christmas, and since I had a bunch together thought I might as well start in on that. I feel good that I've got one son all done and wrapped. Of course there is a reason for this. We are heading to Ohio to see my son and his wife in a few weeks......... and oh.....forgot to say......

that was the other thing that happened today. I BECAME A GRANDMOTHER AT 3 PM!!

While I was wrapping presents at about 6 pm, my son called to tell me that they induced Amanda since her blood pressure was alarmingly high. She has been on a watch and with only two weeks or so to go, I guess last night they dared not let it go further and decided that today would be the day. His name is ETHAN RICHARD and he was 7lb 2 oz and 19 inches long. All is well.

Not only do I have all his first Christmas gifts bought and wrapped, (as of today) I already picked up his second year birthday gift the other day. How bad is that?

Yep, today was a very busy day. I think I need to get some sleep now.

Congratulations!

As my parents found out when they became grandparents - it's more fun.

You can spoil them, and then hand them back to Mom or Dad.

Congratulations Grandma!

ughhhh Does this mean I have to start acting like one? I hope not. If so, I'm in trouble.

Now you have a whole new generation to play with.

yes, and I'm looking forward to it.

VERY energetic so says my achy body today. Funny I don't remember getting achy when I played football or those other games when I was a kid. Never had one ache that I can remember. Maybe I AM suppose to act like a granny..... . NOT!!
