Today was another gorgeous day. I can't believe our good fortune this fall. It's been near close to perfect. The colors on the trees are fabulous. I took the last of what was left of my film today. I was on the way out and stopped my car halfway down the road, got out to take a shot of the colors with the mountains in the background. It was early in the am and it was a clear bright morning with the sun just coming up and it was awesome to see the early morning sun hitting the colorful backdrop of trees and mountains.
As I stopped the car, I noticed two young does by the side of the road. Both flashed their white tails at me. One immediately headed back for cover, stopped, waited for her pal while the other stayed near the road, curious as to what I was up to. When I opened the door and stepped out, the second doe joined the first and with a final white flash headed for the woods.
I only had one shot left so I opted for the background picture instead of the two deer. Maybe I'll post later on JU if they come out ok. I've been snapping pictures the last week or so since I've really been able to be aware of the beautiful colors this year. Someone said they didn't think they were as vibrant as usual, but I don't know, the colors seemed bright enough for me. Usually, tho I just take it for granted most of the time so maybe that's the answer. This year I really had the chance to enjoy the fall a bit more for some reason.
Yesterday I did a trail run with a senior girl, and as we ran thru the woods and kicking up the newly fallen leaves we did notice the beauty that surrounded us. It was nice, just she and I, enjoying a beautiful sunny colorful day running to our heart's content. We both thanked each other afterwards for a "great run." It was very enjoyable.
I love this time of year when it's like this. So far we've only had a couple of chilly days and maybe a handful of chilly enough nights we needed to put on a wood stove fire. Usually all we need is to light up one fire with five or six pieces of wood, crank it up, then down and we're good for the night. We've got a garage full of wood and an oil tank full of oil. We're set. It doesn't mean I'm looking forward to the cold, but we'll be cozy enough inside.
Besides, what is Christmas without snow? It will be here before we know it. Sixty six days till Christmas!!!
