That sort of day today

Have you ever had a Good News/Bad News type of day? Well today was sort of like that for me.

Bad news first. Today was supposed to be our State Meet. Because of the impending weather, our meet was canceled yesterday. Now this is only done like once in 10 years sort of thing. We knew it was going to be bad, rainy and muddy but we thrive on the mud so that didn't bother us too much. I wasn't actually looking forward to standing out in the pouring, windy, rainy weather but you gotta do what you gotta do. Well I guess the higher powers said no. What do they know? That's what I want to know.

So the bad news is no States which prolongs our season another whole week which messes up our schedules. I had a very anticipated Fall/Winter Clothes Swap all planned out for next week but instead I will have to get substitues for that and head to the State Meet. I wonder what the weather will be like then? No guarentees were given.

The Good News is that I will have another week of intense training with 15-18 year olds that helps kick my butt. It keeps me motivated. Yesterday when we got the news we canceled our planned spagetti dinner and did a two mile tempo run on the horse track instead. That was good news because I did very well and can see I'm fit for a couple of upcoming races in NC and VA in November.

The Bad News is that we have another week of training. Not a contradiction on the above statement only a different angle in view here. The rest of the school's sports are done. It's inbetween sports now for the whole school excluding us. So to try and keep these kids focused and meeting together gets increasingly hard. The season should have been over today.

The Good News is instead of going to the Meet today I stayed home, while it poured out, and cleaned out all my closets, my son's closet and my husband's closet as well. I washed, dried and folded clothes for the Clothes Swap and neatened out all my stuff. It now looks pretty impressive. I started at about 10 am and finished at about 3 pm. In the meantime I went to work on our bedroom putting lots of clutter in their rightful places, dusting the biggest dustballs I've ever seen behind furniture and swapping around summer stuff for fall/winter stuff.

The Bad News is I never went for a run. I was too busy. I had to cook for a get together meal for tomorrow as well. I thought what is the quickest thing I can make but still be good to eat? Baked Ziti. So I put together baked Ziti with sausage and it's all ready to go for tomorrow's meal.

The Good News is we had an extra hour today. It still wasn't enough time to run, but because of the extra hour I was able to get a whole hour's worth of extra work in before I shut down for the night.

The Bad News is.....my hour is up.

I actually was awake for my extra hour.  And the next and the next and the next.  Not a good sleeping night.

I keep forgetting about mine - I still have not changed the clocks on the walls.

nope, me neither. The winds were howling all night so between the time change and the wind, I'm extremely tired today.

I still have not changed the clocks on the walls.

well you'd better or you're eventually gonna be late for something!

You have been busy! Good luck with the upcoming Meets!

Thanks FS. I'll check in about that later. My life is constantly on the go. When X-country season ends I start to look forward to tax season and that lasts until April.
