A dilemma is a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives and I have one right now. Here it is. For months before we went away on our latest vacation I had a friend of mine beg to take Quincy Dog the next time we needed a dog sitter. So I knew when the time came I could call on her. Well two weeks before we left she needed help with her animals. She had chickens, a cat, a bunny and a dog. We cared for her animals while she was away. I had to drive abo...
I loved cruising!! What a blast!! I've heard mixed reviews so I wasn't sure, but we had a blast in the Bahamas as well as on the boat. Now I'm home and we're in the middle of our first significant snowstorm of the season. We haven't even been home 36 hours yet. It is 54 degrees colder here than the day I left. This leads me to question myself. Why am I here? This particular cruise was a Christian one. So that meant, no alcohol and no gambling which suited us just fine. By ...
Christmas is finally over!! It's been, as usual, very busy here. It seems as tho as soon as we got home from vacation after the Thanksgiving holiday it's been go, go, and go right up until Christmas. Right off I threw a party for about 60 of us at the top of December. That was alot of fun with many surprises tucked in as well to make for an enjoyable evening. Then we had our Cantata a week later which kept me busy even tho I wasn't in it. It was a packed house two night affair. We ...
He came to pay a debt He didn't owe because we owed a debt we couldn't pay. That's what Christmas is all about for me. I thank God for that little baby that was unlike any other. I wish those who feel the same a very MERRY CHRIST-MAS and for everybody else.....Happy Holidays and may you all have a very blessed New Year.
Ok, just read this in today's paper and just had to share. It's an AP coming out of Washington, and we know that all things that come out of Washington are drop dead true....LOL. A poll was taken of 1,000 adults on Dec 12-14 and this is what they've come up with. -86% believed in Santa as a child. -More than 60% of those with children at home consider Santa important in their holiday celebrations now. That's an approval rating President Bush and most in Congress could only d...
This remarkable true story is told by a respected physician who practiced in the Maritime Provinces in the last half of the 20th century. This story, written by Joseph McDougall, "is unlike any other I have ever seen," and I would have to agree with him. When I first read this in 2000 I could hardly believe it. Now only these few years later, experiencing my own miracles I have no doubt and would like to share this heartwarming wonderful story. It's kind of long, but worth it. * ...
Something awful has happened here. At work my friend upstairs who usually comes down to my office for coffee had some bad news. He has an insurance business and just received a claim the night before that also hit the news. A 17 year old boy here was hit by a car just after dark. He was wearing all black and walking WITH traffic. The driver never saw him, because of his dark clothing, until too late. The driver was neither speeding nor drunk. The driver, from eyewitness account...
The presents are wrapped. The stockings are hung. The house is lit with candles in all the windows. The tree decorated to the hilt with my little angel on the top holding her light. The nativity is prominent as always and this year with lights over the stable. My Christmas village is now up with a few additions this year. My husband even hung out those pretty white icicle lights outside. I wanted to see if the boys even noticed. Probably not. I'm not too sure why I go all out li...
The following piece was written by my college son and published in the newspaper. I thought it was thought provoking. The newspaper has received quite a few comments on this. Santa vs. Satan It is a complicated, biased, horrible train of thought. On the one hand stands Santa Claus himself. We normally drive the thought into our child’s mind that Santa Claus, Ole’ Saint Nick, is the saint of the modern times. Santa Claus brings presents, which in turn bring joy to us all. Perche...

My friend Bonny who is familiar with Quincy and loves my Quincy stories couldn't wait to send me the following story about another dog that sounds so much like Quincy Dog. Isn't it good to know you are not alone in the world? It did my heart good to read this hilarious story and know somewhere out there Quincy has someone just like him with a Mom just like me. I do take comfort that at least Quincy doesn't have a drinking problem. This is really long but totally worth it Jasper ...
I am now not looking forward to my upcoming trip in January. At least not the flying part that is. We are to fly into Florida to catch a ship to cruise into the Bahamas. The warm weather, the sand, the water...all sounds great. But to fly the not so friendly skies....nope. Not looking forward to it. Not one bit, especially after what happened yesterday and today. David was to fly into our local airport which tends to be pretty pricey in contrast to the other airport that's twice as ...
For My Democrat Friends: "Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to ...
Before we left on vacation my mom offered to take Quincy dog. She has an only child-dog as well so we thought that would be perfect for them both. Because Quincy gets in so much trouble here and there, which I've already written about, my husband was really hoping maybe she'd offer to keep him. Everyone LOVES Quincy. He's very personable and cute. Her two other dogs died earlier this year and left her third dog all alone. This now lonely dog had been howling everytime my mom came ...
Did anyone watch Larry King the other night with James Dobson, Founder of Focus on the Family as his guest? Well I guess James gave his buddy Larry a history lesson on the separation of church and state. I was kind of surprised at what Larry didn't know mostly because he should have done his HW by this time. This issue has been going on now for quite some time now. The courts are clogged with all sorts of cases surrounding the separation of church and state debacle. How many people d...
