Today was a gorgeous day.  Not much different than it's been around here.  Highs in the 80's during the day and 60's at night.  Just perfect.  I did something a bit different today.  I biked to Rosenthal's study in Lady Lake.  Usually it takes me like 10 minutes and about 5 miles to get there by car.  But with rotaries, or around here they call them roundabouts, and loads of traffic along the normal route I took the back way which mostly took me along countr...

I'm happy to say that "Expelled" broke into the top 10 this weekend.  This is pretty good considering that the movie only opened in 1,052 screens about half as many screens as other top 10 movies.  Those who have seen the movie have said it was nicely done and that it is not from a Christian perspective by any means.   Here are some of the comments from those who have seen the movie. -Even Mr. Dawkins at the end admitted to "alien intelligent design." -My wife and I ...

Let's talk about ME and MY family shall we?      What did I do this weekend?   Lots of stuff.  It was a good weekend.  First I went to an Extraordinary Women's Conference in Orlando and had a great time with my friend Jody.  We got there really early at 5pm on Friday.  The doors weren't supposed to open until 6 but we just walked in, picked up our packets and headed into the big arena.  To our surprise we were the first ones there...

I have come to realize I can now add another least favorite thing to shop for.  I would put this on the list next to toilets or lumber.  What is it?  A mattress. It's not fun, probably the least fun purchase I've ever made.  I've spent weeks looking and researching mattresses and I still feel I don't know all that much.  It's very, very confusing.  There are so many different types, brands, coils, etc.  Do we buy one with memory foam, pillowt...

With all the politcs of today don't you miss Ronald Reagan?  I mean not only was he articulate, funny  and smart, he was entertaining as well.  Maybe his acting career helped him there some but he was genuinely just a pretty well liked guy no matter your politics.   Here's a few of his words he left behind to remember him by: "Here's my strategy on the cold war; we win; they lose." "The most terrifying words in the English language are:  I'm...

After studying Israel's history for years I have to say I believe, if nothing else, their survival is the greatest single testament to the bible being what it claims to be.  The word of God filtered thru the eyes and ears of man is truly an inspired document.   If any people group was destined to die out, surely the Jews, who were the most persecuted of all men, nearly killed off many times, would be the people group to put your money on for not making it. But they did. ...

Everyone is watching the Middle East as we should.  What's going on in the Middle East and how does it affect our future?  I was thinking about this as I listened to a very articulate and knowledgeable Jewish Christian speak about these things this morning.  He just got back from Jerusalem where he took four busloads of Christians to see the land where Christ walked.  He goes twice a year and I'm thinking I'd like to go on the next trip.    What we are ...

I loved this!  I got this joke from a friend today.     Hillary and Obama were in a boat going down the river.  The River was extremely rough. The boat capsized. Who was saved?        AMERICA!

First the Question: Should a Christian business owner have the right to refuse business they feel might compromise their personal testimony or their company policy? Now the story: A Christian couple in New Mexico own their own photography business.  Recently a lesbian couple asked this Christian couple if they would shoot their "committment ceremony" nearby.  They politely refused.  One of the lesbian partners filed a complaint against them with the New Mexico H...

Not sure if this is a true story or not, but it got my attention as I thought about the situation.  What would I do in this situation?  What would you do?  AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS,  THE CHURCH'S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON FOR THE EVENING, HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING. IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE CONGREGATION THAT THE GUES...

So today my youngest son calls us with a request for  advice.  Not unusual especially when it comes to his car.  He's always calling us with a car question.  I think he's called at least twice in the last year with jumper cables in hand "which color is negative and which is positive?"  He's inherited his lack of mechanical skills honestly from me.  I'm probably the least mechanical person on the planet.  I'm still trying to figure out how...

Here's a quote I thought would be nice to think about.  I think it's even more applicable for today than when he first spoke these words.   General Omar Bradley said this about our generation, “We know more about war than about peace. We know more about killing than about living. This is our 20th Century’s claim to progress — knowledge of science outstrips capacity for control. We have too many men of science, too few men of God. The world has achieved brilli...

Matt Foreman is the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and has recently admitted to the public at his organization's  national conference February meeting that HIV/AIDS is a "gay disease."  His statement regarding AIDS surprised many of the attendees when he said, “Folks, with 70% of the people in this country living with HIV being gay or bi(sexual), we cannot deny that HIV is a gay disease. We have to own that and face up to that.&rdqu...

Senator Obama  was giving his opinion on abstinence-only education at a recent town hall meeting in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, when he said:  "Look, I got two daughters -- nine years old and six years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at age 16." Punishment?  Well, I guess I wouldn't go that far.  I would say it's consequence f...
