So today my youngest son calls us with a request for advice. Not unusual especially when it comes to his car. He's always calling us with a car question. I think he's called at least twice in the last year with jumper cables in hand "which color is negative and which is positive?"
He's inherited his lack of mechanical skills honestly from me. I'm probably the least mechanical person on the planet. I'm still trying to figure out how my middle son got his degree in Mechanical Engineering coming from this family, although I have to say my husband does ok in this department. Not his expertise but he can figure things out quite well most of the time, although it's not his favorite either. I'm thinking Brian has one of the least interesting jobs out there but I guess somebody's got to do it.
So anyway David calls and asks, "how do I shut my horn off?"
"Why, is it on now?"
"Well everytime I drive it stays on."
"You've been driving like this?"
"Ya, I have to. You should see all the cars drive to the side when I go down these really busy roads. It's pretty funny. I don't have to worry about traffic and being late to work. Everyone's driving over to the side for me."
"David, you can't drive like this. This has got to be annoying."
"It is, but I have to get to work so I have no choice. It started yesterday morning."
He then goes on to tell me how he came home from work last night at 12:30 am and the guys were still up in the living room watching a movie. They could hear his horn miles away coming towards them and wondering what the noise was all about.
This time my husband, other than to tell him to depress the horn hard a few times to see if he can dislodge something, had really no idea what to tell him.
I told him to call a mechanic friend. He then says,
"I think it's time to buy another car."
Aly will be thrilled!
