It was a beautiful day for a wedding. After all the rain we had it was nice to see a sunny day again. Thank goodness it wasn't the week before. The week leading up to this day was extremely busy. The bride's mom could not be there until the Thursday before as she was flying up from Va. So on Thursday when she arrived we spent the whole day decorating the reception hall which basically was our sanctuary in our church. This is the second wedding we had there. On Wednesday night we st...

Well I've written about most of the happenings this past week involving my middle son's graduation from VMI in VA. Now comes the rest of the story only this involves my youngest son David. Some of you know David from his blogging time here on JU. He has since moved away from that, being much too busy with college life and work plus trying to keep Aly smiling (which is not a hard thing to do). He and Aly came to most of the events planned for the grads and their parents. At one po...

Wow, what a week we had in sunny Virginia. The whole time we were there it poured and poured and poured here in the Northeast. We have a record 11 inches of rain for the month of May so far here which is about 9 inches above normal I think they said. I am soooooo glad we got to escape the brunt of this gloomy weather at least for a bit. Well we drove straight all day last Thursday arriving at the Natural Bridge Hotel at about 10 pm. All the hotels in the whole state of Virginia it ...

We are finally going on vacation. Yahoo!!! It's been a long six months, and we really need to get away. Really!!! My son is graduating from VMI, so we will go to VA and plan around the festivities that VMI is planning for us. This is not your typical graduation. This will be a four day event with the first ceremony happening Friday night. The graduation itself doesn't happen until next Tuesday. Our youngest son and his girlfriend will meet us there as well. So we get to hang out, th...

I got this today via email and laughed my butt off. I loved it remembering back when my kids were little and my husband would ask the same question thinking I was just playing with the kids all day. This is for all you moms out there......have a good one!!! A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was t...

I have just recently heard of a cure all called Noni Juice from Tahiti. We have a couple of people in my church that I care about selling this stuff and believing all the claims surrounding it. Is it for real? Are they being scammed? Does anybody out there have any info they could share with me...pros or cons dealing with this potion? My son is telling me the boost of energy they are feeling after taking this is nothing more than a placebo effect. He thinks they are being scammed a...

I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen anything written here on Joe User on the upcoming Da Vinci Code phenomenon in the form of an upcoming movie. I'm sure Brown's movie, as was his novel, will not only be very popular but also widely controversial as well. Because of that he's managed to sell about 46 million books. He has been criticized by many different religious groups and scholars alike. While I'm no fan of this man's work , I am not worried about Christianity's demise as a ...

I've been reading and studying the scriptures since I was a small child being drawn to the amazing words of God. This book is much more than printed pages of ink. I believe it's God's love letter to humanity. It's how he speaks to me and let's me know what's on his mind. I've heard it said that the devil doesn't care if you are kind and helpful or go to church every Sunday or not. What ticks the devil and his angels off the most is our communication with God. Satan does not like us read...

Since there's been some talk on JU recently about the integrity of the gospels I thought I'd touch on it lightly here and also since somewhere along the way I promised I would. Of course I can't remember to who but a promise is a promise!! What are the gospels? Gospel means "good news." Of course this good news is the record of salvation that has been opened to mankind through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are sort of...

A new museum is being built on 50 scenic acres near the Cincinnati Airport along 1-275, exit 11 in the city of Petersburg, Kentucky. This 50,000 square foot museum will take guests on a fascinating high-tech walk through biblical history from Genesis to Revelation and will open in the spring of 2007. The man behind all this is Ken Ham the founder of Answers in Genesis. He is a creation research Scientist who is very well respected in the Christian community. He is my son's absolute fav...

I received this letter today from a friend and given all the flak on immigration; t hought I'd add it to the mix. Dear President Bush: I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the US into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this. I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm ...

"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Apostle Paul to the Romans Co-Crucifixion. Have I made this decision about sin, that it must be killed right out in me? It takes a long time to come to a moral decision about sin, but it is the great moment in my life when I do decide that just as Jesusu Christ died for the sin of the world, so sin must die out in me, not be curbed or suppressed or ...

Wednesday night at sundown was the commencement of Passover. Passover is a one day holiday in what scripture records as the Lord's Passover. Somehow over the centuries we've called it the "Jewish Passover." The next day after the Passover is the start of the Feast of Unleavened Bread which lasts for seven days. Together Passover with the Feast of Unleavened Bread is celebrated as an eight day holiday. Part of the celebration of Passover is the Afikomen ceremony. Before the meal, th...

A Frightening Analysis This is a speech given about 2 years ago but still worth repeating. Have you heard this? We all know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration-overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor named Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia," explaining ho...
