It's about time!!!

We are finally going on vacation. Yahoo!!! It's been a long six months, and we really need to get away. Really!!! My son is graduating from VMI, so we will go to VA and plan around the festivities that VMI is planning for us. This is not your typical graduation. This will be a four day event with the first ceremony happening Friday night. The graduation itself doesn't happen until next Tuesday. Our youngest son and his girlfriend will meet us there as well. So we get to hang out, the four of us.

We are looking forward to seeing our middle son stand up, not only to receive his hard earned diploma but also to see him commissioned in the United States Air Force. He's been looking forward to this moment for a long time. He was also informed that he needed to let his parents know that he's getting a big award and for us to bring cameras. We all have no idea what he's getting but can't wait to find out. Not only will my camera be ready but I'll have someone else there with a spare just in case.

So the laundry is being done, the bags are half packed, the dog has a home to go to and the cat.....well she's on her own. With a big bowl of water and food she should be ok.

We go to VA at least three times a year. That seems to be our favorite place mostly because our three children have been there these last six years going to college. Now with one moving to KY, another moving to OHIO and with one still in VA vacation time is going to be a bit more challenging.

We love to run Blackwater Creek in Lynchburg, VA. It's one of our very favorite places to run. I've got my running bag packed but am unsure if we'll make Blackwater this trip or not. There is also a great running path behind VMI and we are planning on doing that most likely more than once.

I'm bringing my laptop but unsure if I'll have hookup. If not, I can get my upcoming studies done. It's always nice to come back from vacation and be ahead of the game and rearing to go. I teach a couple of weekly Bible Studies. Right now I'm working on the Seven Feasts of Leviticus 23 and another on the book of Daniel.

Of course vacation time is not complete without a few good books. Along with the usual, bible, magazines and devotionals, I plan on bringing C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity." I may bring Oz Guinness' "Time for Truth" and a Caner book on unveiling the Muslim Faith. He's a great sought after speaker and dean of students at Liberty University and I've been putting his book on hold for such a time as this. As a former Muslim he has great insights into the faith and I can't wait to crack it open.

As soon as we get back, we go into Wedding Overload. This same son is going to marry his high school sweetheart. We have about 10 days to get things done and ready for their big day. He barely has time to finish his honneymoon before he goes to Alabama for training just before he gets to his base in Ohio. His poor bride will be left behind for six weeks or so during this time. I guess it's something she will have to get used to from what I hear. I don't know how the military wives do this. It's got to be very hard.

Well, break's over. I've got to get back to the packing and the laundry is done and ready to hang. This will be my last entry until I get back. Maybe I'll do a recap on the sights and sounds of our VA vacation.

I'll be thinking of you, maybe I'll send a postcard!!

Congratulations on your son!  Strut with pride!

Where in Ky? They might not be that far apart as Wright Pat is only about 50 miles from Ky.

My heart goes out to the bride to be,  my sister went through that and I remember how heartbroken she was.

Thanks guys. It's a much deserved break from life. I'm not sure where in KY but I'm thinking Lexington? I was told Bobby will only be about 2 or 3 hours away from Brian. So I think that is very doable for vacation next fall maybe.

Congratulations on your son! Strut with pride!

I'm very proud of all my boys, but I do give glory to God and thank him for helping us raise such great boys. We couldn't have done this on our own. I'm still amazed how much prayer does work. It really does. Knock me over with a feather.
