"According to the U.S. government, I am an extremist. I am a Christian and meet regularly with other Christians to study God's word. My faith convinces me the prophecies in the Holy Bible are true. I believe in the sanctity of human life, oppose abortion, and want to preserve marriage as the union of a man and a woman." Wow! While I would like to take credit for the above quote because it's exactly what I could say as well, I can't. This was written ...
Two of my three sons attended Liberty University. This is the largest Christian University in the world founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell. They had a great education and both ran in the Division 1 Track and X-Country programs. They met lifelong friends and have good memories attending Liberty. One met the woman who would later become his wife. Both came out even stronger in their faith than when they left home at 18. So I was very interest...
Miss California didn't know she was about to step into a hornets' nest with her answer to a question posed to her by celebrity judge Perez Hilton at last night's Miss America Contest. Did you hear her answer and see her beautiful face as she gave it? Did you hear his question and feel the confrontational attitude coming from him when he gave it? It was almost like he knew her background and was daring her to answer this question honestly and if so, to her detriment. It lo...
Did you hear about this one? This doesn't help quell the rumors that Obama is acting like the AC. Recently he told the Turks that America is not a Christian Nation. So is he trying to prove it? This was on Fox News this morning. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/16/georgetown-university-hid-religious-symbols-white-house-request/
So they say. It wasn't for me. Well that's not to say that I don't find my third son charming. He is most certainly quite the charmer. Ask his wife and anyone who knows David. But............... I have two brothers, three sons and one stepson. I also have two beautiful grandsons and one pair of pink and white baby Nikes in the closet. They've been sitting there for a while now. Just wating for the day they can be used...
I received this devo today and concur wholeheartedly. Too many people are believing what they hear instead of what they know. Some have no idea why they believe what they believe. Some believe because it suits their purposes. Some just go with the flow. I call it easy believism . Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in the...
My friend sent me this from the St. Petersburg Times. They asked in the business section for ideas on fixing the economy. If given the chance, how would you do it? This reponse came from one of the readers and I thought it was a good one. We could retire under this plan now. It's funny but I was reading the book of Numbers in the bible this morning and I read it was mandatory retirement at age 50 for those working in the Lord's service. M...
My Dad's here to visit me for the first time since I moved South. This was a very big move on his part. A maniac hoakie leaving the state of his birth to come and visit his daughter. I wasn't sure he was really going to come at first because we got into an argument over the phone a few days before he was scheduled to arrive. Sometimes he gets short with me I should have known better. The conversation went like this: Me: "Hi, it's me." ...
Another senseless shooting. Another hothead takes up a gun and kills innocent people. This time three police officers are killed in Philadelphia. They were ambushed by a 23 year old young man with serious issues. Yesteryday it was in NY when 13 people along with the gunman were killed. Was there a link? I noticed in both these two cases they had lost their jobs. I've been bothered lately by just how people are getting fired. It j...
Sent to me by a friend with a question. Who thinks this stuff up? Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor In honor of the 44th President of the United States , " Barocky Road ". Barocky Road is a blend of half Vanilla, half Chocolate, and surrounded by Nuts and Flakes. The Vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. ...

Earlier I posted an article on throwing a big tea party. http://kfc.joeuser.com/article/342738/Lets_Throw_A_Tea_Party#comments Today a friend sent me a really good video that must have started the whole tea party idea going. At the time of my earlier posting I didn't know about the video but think it's worth a look. I wish I had seen this earlier. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a few minutes to check out. "Thomas Paine" see...
This is Part II. To see Part I first go here: http://kfc.joeuser.com/article/344743/The_Very_First_Couple The first thing that happened when Adam and Eve sinned was the recognition of their nakedness. They had not noticed that before. We read earlier: " The man and his wife were both naked, yet they felt no shame." What changed? First they were naked and unashamed and now they are naked and ashamed. How could a man and woman be...
I'm not sure whether to put this under history or religion. I believe Adam and Eve and their story to be a historical narrative and fits all criteria of being so by using names of people and places as would be expected in any other historical accounting of events. Of course, we find their story written in one of the oldest manuscripts known to man today. That is, a book thought to have been written by Moses and perfectly preserved by the Jews through the centuries....
