And It Cost her a Perishible Crown
Published on April 20, 2009 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Current Events

Miss California didn't know she was about to step into a hornets' nest with her answer to a question posed to her by celebrity judge Perez Hilton at last night's Miss America Contest.  Did you hear her answer and see her beautiful face as she gave it?  Did you hear his question and feel the confrontational attitude coming from him when he gave it?  It was almost like he knew her background and was daring her to answer this question honestly and if so, to her detriment.  It looks like he made sure she paid for this "wrong" answer.

I loved the applause she got from the audience after her answer believing that most feel the same way as she.  That is, marriage should be between a man and a woman as we have all been brought up to believe.

You just knew that Hilton was very angry receiving the answer that he did not wish to hear.    She did not back down believing that every state should have the opportunity to vote one way or the other and then giving her own opinion on the matter.

I think she hit on something important.  It should be left up to the people to vote and not the state representatives who are bowing to the pressure put to them by a militant few like this Hilton character.

Showing his true colors, Perez Hilton today went on his blog site blasting out Miss California, hate and venom dripping from his lips, as he called her derogatory names.  All because she gave her opinion that did not match his own and standing up for her belief that she was raised with.

Miss California stated her opinion to the question posed to her and since it wasn't politically correct lost her bid to become the new Miss America.  Basically her answer cost her.  This is truly representative as to what is going on all across the country to those who dare speak out against these new laws allowing homosexual marriages and the baggage that comes with it.   You disagree and you will pay the price.

I'd like to say to Miss California that she did good.  She is refreshingly honest as well as amazingly beautiful inside and out and her not bowing to the social pressure of our day just to get along speaks volumes about her character.  Kudos!  She may have lost this imperishible crown but I'm just betting she's going to get another that will glitter more brightly in the age to come.

Check the link below to see how Hilton really exposed his true self.  I thought judges were supposed to be impartial?  Some judge.

I disagree completely with what she said, and find it slightly unfortunate; however, I commend her for being honest, even though I, and most others, disagree.

as we have all been brought up to believe.

Brainwashing your children is pretty cool, I guess.

A lot of people were (and some still are) brought up to believe that racism is a good thing.  Doesn't make'em noble by any means.

Funny for a nation whose focus is rights and individual freedoms there are so many still hung up on the idea of gay marriage just because some ol' book says a couple things about it.

Indeed.

so you think the color of your skin is the same as having sex with the same gender?  You equate the two as equal?

And that's your right. Should you be punished for it though? She was asked a question and gave an honest answer, should your political views or anyone elses be the judge of someones honesty in a competition not meant to be about politics? I would think this is unfair.

I commend her for being honest, even though I, and most others, disagree.

What most others? Last I checked some places allow for gay mariages but others voted against it. I have not seen any evidence that would say most people are in favor of gay mariages, I could be wrong though.

Do you have children? If not I don't think you could possibly understand what it is to be a parent. If you do, do you educate your children from books? Or do you teach them what you think is right? One could say anything you teach your own children is brainwashing, but then it would not be very smart to believe a child can figure out tis out on his/her own. Why are we parents responsible for children again?

A lot of people were (and some still are) brought up to believe that racism is a good thing. Doesn't make'em noble by any means.

Yea but these people were taught to hate, religion does not necessarily teach to hate (with those radicals from Islam as an esxception). Although I have to admit some poeples religious belief are taken to extremes to the point of stupidity, but the wy I see it, religious and non-religious child home education have some things in common that teach our children right from wrong so in the end I don't believe raising your child to believe in your religion is brain washing. I believe that brain washing happens when the person, who is old enough to choose on their own, choice is taken from them.

Funny for a nation whose focus is rights and individual freedoms there are so many still hung up on the idea of gay marriage just because some ol' book says a couple things about it.

Well, the focus is not on total freedom, otherwise murder, rape, robbery, nudity and other things would also be rights and freedoms. But personally, I could care less if gay people wanna get married. I, however, believe that if someone refuses to marry them, they should be allowed to without fear of being sued. Like KFC, I too believe married was meant to be between a man and a woman, but then I also believe women should have equal rights, death should not be the punishment for being raped and 15 years old is to young to be drinking; but I don't see everyone around the world pleasing me with my opinions so I worry about me and my family and hope others will eventually figure out right from wrong regardless of their beliefs.

Sorry for quoting twice but your answer kinda got me curious. What do you consider brainwashing when speaking about children?

This is a major reason why I don't watch or really follow the pagents anymore.

Perez clearly had an agenda to promote and forward.  The problem I have isn't so much the question nor the response.  The problem I have is when Ms. California responded in HER OPINION (which was stated in the question, In YOUR OPINION...) she didn't feel gay marriages were right.  Perez didn't demerit her on her stumbling on the question and failure to clearly articulate her opinion (which she stumbled quite a bit), he skewed his score based upon his agenda and how she was against it.

I think that contraversial questions are warranted in such instances because it allows you to see the candidate outside of canned responses (World Peace... *cheers*).  To me it shows a sign of confidence and intellegence to have that kind of pressure put on them and they are able to think, form, and articulate their thought.

I don't care if Perez was promoting a gay agenda or the anti-gay agenda but his scoring and reaction to this situation has again shown the bias of the judging.  It in my opinion, degrades the prestige this pagent is supposed to have and why I don't watch it.

He showed no respect for her opinion with his scoring and tirade. He is a sad little man.

I can see where Perez is coming from. It can't be very pleasant to have someone tell you that you don't deserve marriage because only straight people can do it properly.

Deliberately antagonising a group of people who you know are likely to judge and/or hire you in fashion isn't a particularly good career move, but maybe it will work out for her in the end.

There are certainly those who are in favor; evidence; my experience in (pro) same sex marriage activism.

And that's your right. Should you be punished for it though? She was asked a question and gave an honest answer, should your political views or anyone elses be the judge of someones honesty in a competition not meant to be about politics? I would think this is unfair.

It depends on the case; in situations of libel, slander, et al. - then yeah, so long as it's proven - by law - that such words fall under the definition of slander, libel, crying fire, etc. Other than that, I do not see why someone should get punished for it - save I really think some people need to use an ounce of wisdeom. Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all. At least that's my take on it.

Speaking of the Miss USA deal, I really do not believe that Miss California lost it because of her answer. The way she's talking it sounds as if she thought it was in the bag, maybe I'm wrong and I concede I might be, but I felt that the best one won.

That being said, Miss California stated what she stated, and has the consequences to deal with, whatever they may be, whether or not you or she thinks she was right. Such is life; it never is fair.

All this shows is there is a correct and incorrect answer, your opinion doesn't matter, unless it's the correct one. This is the college education most parents are paying for today, your replicating your kids professors ideas into your children. If you speak with most educators, they know everything, just ask one. They know what is best for your kids. Just like Pavlov's dog's.... your kids will bark the party talking points at the sound of the bell. Talk about brainwashing. Don't believe educational institutions are political? Just follow the money trail.

Woah, hold on. Please, for the sake of my brain, provide the reasoning for the jump you just took.

I would disagree on one point - if you're the Miss USA, Perez Hilton aside, you represent millions and are looked up as a role model. How about President Obama? We expect him to represent our country, and when he makes comments that are - for want of a better term - bad, we castigate him for it. E.g. The Christianity comment.

My understanding is she was actually ahead before this final round.  I cannot say for certain but that's what I've read.

So far as I know she was trailing, but who knows.

I can see where Perez is coming from. It can't be very pleasant to have someone tell you that you don't deserve marriage because only straight people can do it properly.

So people should lose a contest because you didn't like the answer to a question you knew would upset you if not given the answer you wanted? Doesn't sound like a biased judge, seems more like payback, someone in a position to make others pay for some kind of suffering you went thru or are going thru. Why did the question have to be about gays? Why could it not be about something else that would not have such a painful reaction to the answer? Why should a small question be the defining point of such hard work in a show that was 95% based on physical beauty? These women don't go there cause they are ugly, fat and uneducated. So why should this simple question cost anyone any title? That's if it did of course, we are basically assuming at this point which in reality this whole argument is kinda pointless now that i think about it.

Deliberately antagonising a group of people who you know are likely to judge and/or hire you in fashion isn't a particularly good career move, but maybe it will work out for her in the end.

So you think people should keep their honesty to themselves? You think people should lie to avoid being punished by those who get offended and are in positions that could hurt you? I can see why so many people defend Obama.

on Apr 20, 2009

so you think the color of your skin is the same as having sex with the same gender? You equate the two as equal?

Well, they're both probably genetic factors...so yeah, that's pretty similar.  I was focusing more on the bias that people have against them, though.

No, I don't have kids.  There's a difference between educating and brainwashing.  Educating is teaching your kids about the world: showing them how things work, telling them what you expect of them, and doing all kinds of fun stuff like that...but most importantly teaching them how to think for themselves.

Brainwashing involves crafting a minature copy of you with all your biases and beliefs...like a little robot. They aren't allowed to have differeing opinions, they aren't allowed to be their own person and come to their own conclusions.  Ever see those Phelps kids that shout out stuff about faggots?  That's kind of what I'm talking about.

religion does not necessarily teach to hate (with those radicals from Islam as an esxception).

Every extreme religion preaches hate...even Christianity.  The Phelps example is one, but there are many other fundamentalist groups that are really hateful.

Well, the focus is not on total freedom, otherwise murder, rape, robbery, nudity and other things would also be rights and freedoms.

Yes, because being gay is a crime.    I understand the limitations to certain freedoms, but this particular one is completely ridiculous.  If the people will it, so it should be...and I think we'll see it spread.  4 states down, 46 to go. (edit: apparently the US still has 50 states, not 60...jeez that was embarrassing.)

This is the college education most parents are paying for today, your replicating your kids professors ideas into your children. If you speak with most educators, they know everything, just ask one. They know what is best for your kids. Just like Pavlov's dog's.... your kids will bark the party talking points at the sound of the bell.

Well thank you for insulting my intelligence.  I must disagree, though.  None of my professors preach their gospel to me.  Most of the time politics aren't even discussed because there are usually more pressing matters to attend to like methods of protein transcription, excruciating detail on the nervous system, and ripping the still beating heart out of a turtle.  Maybe I'm just taking the wrong classes.
