It's a cold rainy day and I thought I'd get some work done around the house before I go out this afternoon. As I was cleaning the house this morning (taking my tea break now) I noticed the signs with cute little sayings I have all around the house. Never really noticed it before in this light. I thought it would be interesting to find out what cute sayings others have in their homes as well. I'm thinking it must have some insight on who we are to have these signs hanging around our hom...
Since January is known as Sanctity of Life Month I thought I'd share a real life struggle with the abortion issue with you. While much has been blogged here on JU on the abortion issue, it's much more personal when you hear the struggle in action. A Transformation from Pro-Abortion to Pro-Life by Wendy Cloyd, assistant editor God has a way of showing even the hard-hearted why protecting life in the womb shows respect for all of life. I'm not exactly sure when I reali...
What I Learned from Democrats at the Alito Hearings by Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst A more-or-less lighthearted lexicon of the language used by the Senate Judiciary Committee. I have to admit that I learned a lot about the Senate confirmation process and the role of judges in our society by listening to the combined wisdom of the eight Democrats on the Judiciary Committee this past week. It's not right that I keep this newfound knowledge to myself, so I hereby share it with yo...

At last.... A bumper sticker for both parties. FINALLY, someone has come outwith a 100% bipartisan political bumper sticker. The hottest selling bumpersticker comes from New York State: "2008 - RUN HILLARY RUN" Democrats put it on the rear bumper. Republicans put it on the front bumper.Where can I get one of these?
Well it's here. Tax time. At least for me and countless others that make their living doing what the government requires.......paying up!!! And pay up we do. Yep, death and taxes....a sure thing. Imagine not having this to look forward to?. We'd be alive forever and rich!! Can't have that. Who'd pay the undertaker and the IRS.?......... not to mention I'd be out of a job. I have been working in a CPA office since 1990 when my youngest went to kindergarten.. It's a business ...
Those of us who advocate for traditional values are sometimes accused of trying to take the country back to the 1950's to a decade known for popular images captured in TV programs such as "Father Knows Best." While the 1950s were far from a perfect era, some of the qualities associated with it are reassuring to families. I It was a time when two-parent families were the norm and children could pray in public school classrooms. It was a time when children were safe to play in the neig...
Ok, so it's time to take down the Christmas tree. The funny thing is it takes so long to put up, and I can have this baby down and out the door in less than a half hour. Isn't that how it is? It's pretty easy to put the bulbs and ornaments away in their rightful places, but what do I do with the gifts under the tree that just don't seem to have a place? Things like the flamigo pink plaid pj's that are a size too small? Or the Santa Candle that just isn't me? Do I put it with last y...
So it's the day before Christmas and the boys are all home. So I'm sitting here thinking about the games we'll play tomorrow. It's quite common on Christmas for us to open up a few games to play. My favorites are scrabble and cribbage. But now that I have a son that likes to use scientific words I've never heard of I'm not so sure about the scrabble idea. I may have to table scrabble until he leaves since he's the first to go back to college. Basically I play different games with...
Don't know who wrote this but enjoyed it...hope you do as well. If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing h...
I made a meatloaf the other day to die for!!! It was the best tasting, most delicious meatloaf ever made in the history of meat loafing (even if I do say so myself). It was so good I brought it into work for lunch along with the potatoes and carrots that i baked alongside. Even the guys at work made comments as they could smell the aroma wafting thru the office via the microwave. The only problem here is, it came from one of those pre-made mixes with the plastic bag. You mix all to...
> I liked this... > > THE SANDS OF CHRISTMAS > > by Michael Marks > > I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh, > And looked across the table where the bills were piled too high. > > The laundry wasn't finished and the car I had to fix, > My stocks were down another point, the Chargers lost by six. > > And so with only minutes till my son got home from school > I gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool. > > The burdens that I carried were about al...
---------------------------------------------- Congress Says Christmas Should be Respected The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution Thursday aimed at protecting the symbols and traditions of Christmas. Introduced by Rep. Jo Ann Davis, R-Va., H. Res. 579 is non-binding and does not carry the force of the law. It does express the attitude of the House that Christmas should not be excised from the public square. Davis pointed out that, despite the fact that 96 percent...
Another blogger here on JU and I are studying the book of Genesis. Yes, this is the biblical account of the beginnings of the world. Genesis means "beginning or origin." Of course we all know that scripture is without controversy.....LOL. But Genesis as well as the book of Revelation seem to be the most attacked books of the whole bible. The reason in my estimation? These two books chronicle our beginning and our ending. Of course in both we can see God as responsible for this. And ...
Well as you probably know, I'm fairly new to this blogging thing. I was just having fun being an anonymous user when I got shamed into starting my own blog by my son and...... ahem.....another blogger and you know who you are!!!! . Now I've kinda gotten used to the idea and have questions. What does the point system mean? It doesn't seem to make sense to me. I'm guessing more responses more points? One article I wrote only has two responses and many points while another has more resp...
