I'm glad our three boys got to spend Easter together even if it was SANS parents. From what I've heard they all had a good time even tho Brian was laid up some after going thru PRK last week. Because his eyes were very sensitive to light and movement he had to spend some of the weekend in his dark bedroom trying to find some relief.

David left VA on Thursday and drove the seven hours or so to KY to be with Bobby. They hung around for a while going to church together that night and leaving Friday evening to head towards Brian's home in OH. There they spent the weekend sort of playing with the baby and just hanging out. Bobby said the baby cried when he held him. Well according to Brian the baby cried cuz Bobby held the baby out at arm's length with his hands under the baby's armpits. I guess the drool grossed him out. That and just not being around babies outside of this one doesn't make for a great combination.

David on the other hand didn't plan on holding him (babies scare him) but relented and Ethan actually smiled at him. IHe must not have done the armpit hold. I guess it's a given, David is going to be the favorite uncle. I wish we could have been there with them like we were last Thanksgiving , but it just wasn't meant to be I guess. But I'm glad the three boys could hang out together for the long weekend with Amanda and the baby.

Of course it was worth the drive to have a nice homecooked meal made by Amanda. David said she cooked a very nice meal. Knowing she likes to cook, I'm sure she had a good time as well. Since they left I'm sure it's alot quieter.

They love to joke around alot when they get together. They tend to be very competitive about everything. They all have cell phones and they know I have call waiting. So while I would talk to one, the phone would beep and it would be the other knowing I'm already talkiing to the one. On the first night I was talking to Bobby while he was downstairs in the LR, and I answered the beep to Brian who was upstairs in his dark room resting his eyes.

Today I got an email presumably from David as it was from his address. When I read it, I realized this did not come from David but from from his middle older brother using his name. The message said that Brian is very rugged and handsome even more handsome than he (David) was. Ya, right Brian. Like David would even send such a message. No, only you would send this. It's all that military training going to the head. You are special. You are the best. You are strongest. Yes, you are even more handsome. O brother!!

I'm glad they all got together and had a good time tho. Mothers like to see their kids staying in touch when they leave home and go out on their own. Soon David will be heading home for the summer and I'll be cooking for three or really four cuz he, being the famished runner eats very well. I''ve already started hoarding the boxes of cereal. I like to get ahead.

Little Ethan is going to have a blast with his uncles as he continues to grow and get to hang out with them. I can hear Bobby now, "ya, but first the drool just has to go."

David will make a fine father some day.

As for the PRK - the difference (as I understand it) is that it does not have the protective flap to recover the eye (a friend had PRK - I had Lasik), so yes, until it heals, it is like having a ton of sand in your eye - and makes one a troglodyte! But the good news is that it passes and the vision is better than ever!

Hi Doc,

I have to say it's nice to hear from you and to just hear a pleasant reply as I've not had too many of them lately around here on JU.

Yes, Brian said it was like as you described. Not pain really, just irritation like his contacts were in wrong, and as you said like there something was in there. I'm actually contemplating this myself. I'm kind of chicken tho, so it may take me a while.

I've been around, just not very active (stuff going on in the real world).  Sorry for the flames - I think I have missed them.  I stay out of religion as a couple here at JU seem to hate Catholics and while I try to be civil, I wind up being nasty to those who are antagonistic to my faith.

As for PRK - if you can do Lasik - it is a lot easier (and I think the same price).  And the discomfort last only a few hours.  PRK is usually for people that dont have a thick enough cornea to do the flap with.

I think your three men sound pretty awesome.

I already know they're handsome...having met two of em!  I hope my kids are as brotherly when older.

Poor Amanda....hahahahaha.

I just got a message from Amanda to add to this. First of all....it was ALOT of drool...like in massive...think small puddle. Bobby definitely has AVERSION DROOL problems. She also said that the Doc was right (she reads my blogs) that David is going to be an awesome Dad. I guess middle brother and new daddy put the "overtired and fussy" baby into David's lap and walked away. A few minutes later they could hear the baby giggling. Seems David decided to use the mop on top of his head as a tickle toy for Ethan shaking his mop of hair all over little Ethan. To a five month old baby this is pure joy.

I guess David and Aly are going to drive thru and stay over after school gets out on their way to Chicago to drive Aly back home.

ha, even Amanda says he drools so much if it wasn't her own baby she'd be grossed out. It's different when it's your own. Baby drool doesn't gross me out....you get used to it. The funny thing is Bobby, my first drooled so much he wore a bib permanently for quite a while.. He had six teeth at six months coming thru. He was a mess. Funny he's the one so grossed out.

I am looking forward to gathering with my children on holidays when they are adults. I want a house full of kids and grandkids!

It's too bad you and your husband were not there.

My husband had PRK a few years ago and it has been worth the temporary discomfort many times over.

When he had his surgery, one child was at school and the other was with a neighbor. Our neighbor had taken him to McDonalds so my husband and I were home alone. We were goofing around, and he (crazy guy) rubbed his face on my chest, being funny. We thought he had permanently damaged his eyes. It would have been fun going back to the eye clinic to explain that one.

Later that week he poked himself in the eye with the corner of a pillow.

When are you going to post pics of that grandbaby?

Thanks Poison....I like your pic....I may use that on my son to help him get over his "drool aversion."

sooooo are you looking to "produce" another sister for your children? You have two boys right? So with only one girl.......I always thought two boys and two girls were a perfect family size. Well at the very least. I wish we had gone at least one more. Maybe then I would have that girl I always wanted. 20/20 hindsight.

well Brian was very cognizant of the baby and his bouncy ways. He was a bit scared he might get poked in the eye with an innocent little baby finger.

When are you going to post pics of that grandbaby?

I would in a heartbeat but I have to get their permission first....heh...if I don't, I might not get any updates and they've been keeping em' coming quite regularly. I have my favorite pic of him as the background on my computer. That's the one I'd probably post.
