Many people love to read the Psalms. They are very nice to meditate on in a quiet moment of the day. I like to read the Psalms at night. It's the best time for me. The house is quiet, the dishes are done and I can sit down in peace and not worry about the phone or doorbell and just sit in a comfy chair and meditate. The Psalms are rich and just a little reading goes a long way. Psalm 78:4 says this: We will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation...

Today I was musing over this one little verse in Eph after hearing a Pastor preach on it a few weeks ago: "Neither give place to the devil." 4:27 I've already mentioned that sometimes we can give Satan a place. Sometimes we put out a welcome mat for him. He wastes no time coming in either. He'll come in and just take over quicker than a speeding bullet. We need to learn to keep the "no vacancy signs" handy. When he comes in, after the welcome party we give him, he pays us ba...

Today is Sunday. Today is what I call the Lord's Day. Many Christians as well as non Christians enjoy the Sermon on the Mount. So I thought I'd share a short devo from Adrien on the Beatitudes which is a big part of this Sermon. “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Psalm 34:8 The Lord Jesus Christ gives us beatitudes attitudes that ought to be. They are not platitudes. They are attitudes that deal with Christian character. Your reput...

Ok since it's Sunday and I haven't written under the religious forum in a while, I thought I'd share a Sunday thought. This is from a short devo from Adrien Rogers. “ And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” Romans 13:11 Do you know what Napoleon said about China? “There lies a sleeping giant, and let him sleep, because if he awakens, he will shake the world.” I believe the devil says that abo...

Have you ever thought about giving a place to the devil? Probably not. But did you know we do all the time and don't even know it? Ephesians 4:27 says: "Neither give place to the devil." Well that's pretty clear. We're not to do it. Ok, so exactly what does this mean? Did you know that the devil can stake a claim on our minds? Yes, he does it all the time. People can get a satanic stronghold in their lives, contaminating their life and the lives of their families. ...

`just to set things straight since there seems to be so much confusion on exactly what a Christian is or isn't.......from a friend...... 'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.' When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin'' I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.' When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to ...

I should go back to writing about Revelation. We were just getting started but lately I've been feeling some oppression in my life and felt led to write about Satan. I'm starting to wonder if it doesn't have something to do with this Revelation series. Maybe this break is needed to expose him and his ways. I write this and dedicate it to Ruby! I'm familiar with this feeling. I've felt it before, but it's been quite a while. It's a feeling of dread, darkness and joylessness. He can...

We know that Satan is a liar and murderer from the beginning. We only have to read the first three chapters of Genesis to see his lying murderous ways. His motive is murder and his method is lying. His chief tool to destroy is deception. He's a master liar; very subtle. He makes the lie sound so much like the truth. When he wants to destroy someone, he begins by deceiving them. He lies to get his work done. He wants nothing better than to change your thought processes to deceive a...

Terrorism is a much talked about topic of our day thanks especially to what happened on 9/11. Is there a way of taking Terror out of Terrorism for the ordinary person? I think so. If an enemy can make you fear him, he's won. We shouldn't cooperate with terrorists no matter the level whether it be politically, socially or physically including the bully on the playground. God did not give us the spirit of fear. Fear does not come from God. While God gives us fear, he doesn't giv...

Jesus was a storyteller of the finest kind. His parables always had a point to them. He didn't tell a story for the sake of entertaining but for teaching a truth that needed to be taught. He used everyday common things to get his point across to us. Recently I brought up the following parable in a discussion and came across this same parable today in my daily devo sent to me by HC, another JUser, and very good friend. Thought I'd share after HC shared with me. From Henry Blackaby An...

Continuing on with Chapter 10 in its entirety. Here it is: 1I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4Now when the seven thunders uttered their ...

I'm getting ahead of myself here only because I lost all my notes for Revelation 9:1-12 but will get my act together and put that on hopefully soon. I'm skipping ahead, so I can continue with the next two sections. This section is Revelation 9:13-21. Here's the text: 13Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Eu...

Many are very familiar with Romans 8:28. I hear it quoted often. It goes like this: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 Not all things are good. Many things seem very bad or go wrong in our lives. As Christians we need to always think of the unseen hand in our lives and not get shook up when bad things happen to us on occasion. When something bad happens to me I think of the...

Here we go to the next level of judgment as we look a bit closer at the 4 Trumpets about to blow. We are looking at Revelation 8:6-13 6So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. 7The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. 8Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thr...

Moving along we come to Revelation 8:1-5 which says: When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the ...
