Anyone Want to Guess?

Some updates on the race for Prez.

Actor Stephen Balwin has come out for Huckabee. He had some kind words for McCain but felt Huckabee stood for the things he believed in the most.

So the race here in Florida appears so far to be close between McCain and Huckabee which is funny because Rudy has put all of his eggs into this Palmetto State's basket.

I'm not sure so much about the Hillary/Obama saga and am trying to find the temperature here on them. So far it seems to be more talk about the Republicans than Dems around here.

From what I understand the evangelicals are torn between McCain and Huck and could be okay with almost any of the Republicans with the exception of Rudy.

South Carolina political scientist Dr. Brent Nelson says the Republican presidential race is now John McCain's to lose. He seems to hold his own with the people Huckabee gets along with.

Time will tell. The attention now is on Florida and I intend to vote in my first Florida State Primary January 29th.

Isn't SC the Palmetto state?  Rudy does seem to be banking on Florida, and his star is sinking.  But then we saw one Phoenix from NY already, so we may see another.

Rudy is not my #1.  But I think he would be a good and strong president, so I still like him and wish him well.  McCain is too old, and unfortunately is not a good leader.  Huckabee is too free with the tax pen for my likings.  I am still a Fred man first, and Mitt second.  But any of the leaders would be preferrable to the democrat leaders at this point.

Yes, I thought it was here...because Palmetto's are big, so I think I goofed on that. See, I'm still learning about stuff here.

Right now Romney is predicted to win here by a slim margin. I guess he's spent alot of time here. Rudy is in third. McCain is doing well here right now and is slated to vist here this week. For a time it was looking like a four way tie but Huckabee has slipped about 3 points or so. Rudy is in some polls 2nd and some third so not sure.

I'm not for Mitt (knew too many people who lived in MA) but I have to admit....to me he looks the most Presidential.

I'm thinking now that Fred Thompson has dropped out, his voters may very well switch over to Huckabee. Time will tell. I could have easily voted for Fred Thompson as well but didn't feel he would do well overall. I'm not sure if it was the media not giving him the time or if he just wasn't excited about running. He didn't have alot of get up and go.

Huckabee is having money troubles, from what I heard, and this could help give him a boost.

As a former (or still hoping for a draft) Thompson supporter, I am backing Romney now.

Florida will be interesting because it will be the first Closed Primary. Democrats and Liberal independents won't be able to affect the outcome of the Republican race. Republicans and Conservative independents won't be able to affect the Democrat race. So far we really haven't gotten a true picture of who party members want to represent their parties.

It's too bad Thompson won't be there.

The talk radio callers I've heard today (local and national) who backed Thompson mostly are going for Romney. There were a few switching to Huckabee and Ron Paul, but Romney was getting over 2 to 1 over anyone else. We'll see how it plays out though. I haven't made up my mind yet.

good point Ted. I know I'll be in line for this.

hmmm interesting. I'm not getting the Romney connection. He's so polished yet not liked in his own state (from those I know personally). It'll be interesting who the MA people vote for. Does anyone know if the Boston Globe or Herald put their support behind Romney?

Yes, I finally came to support Thompson after looking at the whole candidate. I'm still undecided who I will now back and Huckabee or McCain are not even close. Rudy or Mitt are my undecided favorites. I supported Huckabee in the beginning but won't anymore. In fact if Huckabee wins the nomination I may vote Democrat before voting for Huckabee. Rudy really needs a strong showing in Florida not because of the delegates but for financial reasons (just to hang in long enough). My two cents.

Rudy can't get a good showing, I don't think. He's been completely ignored in the other primaries, and that doesn't bode well for him. I'm afraid his will be seen as the "greatest blunder of the 2008 primaries" in two years. Of who is left, McCain is my favorite. Huckabee will initiate mass floods to the Democrat side, but I like Brother Mitt, too. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

Why the crap are none of my paragraph breaks surviving the "post reply" today? I look like one of those annoying spammers who can't seem to post anything coherent.

you know Doc....you actually have a good point but there's one problem. My uncle, a really good guy, and not a Massborn really had alot of negative to say. He said Mitt made MA look good at the expense of the little towns and the people.

I supported Huckabee in the beginning but won't anymore

can I ask what changed your thinking?

He's been completely ignored in the other primaries,

well that's of his own doing. He's ditched the other states hoping Florida will be his salvation state.

I'm afraid his will be seen as the "greatest blunder of the 2008 primaries" in two years.

I think I agree with this. All I can say is "what was he thinking?" Here on TV he was asked a direct question by a reporter and he ignored it by dancing around it. The question had to do with running for the whole country vs just part of the country. He just blew off the question. No smart IMO.

ya, I was wondering that myself. But SC although you can be annoying sometimes.......today wasn't the case......lol.

His record while in Arkansas. His campaign tactics (I have a bad ad that I decided not to run but I'm gonna run it on a TV show just to show you have bad it really was). That's sounds like the junior high version of "I've got a secret about someone but I can't tell."

WHO he is changed my mind.
