It May Cause Emotional Stress

Well I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.  The time must be ripe now for this sort of litigation.

It seems as tho a Michigan man is in much emotional pain and is now finding himself mentally unstable so he needs to sue  somebody to feel better.

What's the problem?

Well I guess he read the bible and it pained him so much that he became physically discomforted, bewildered and demoralized.  Say what??   What did he read?

He read that homosexuality was a sin.  So he's suing Zondervan Publishing Company claiming their version of the bible refers to homosexuality as a sin.

Gee whiz.  Why didn't he stick to the Sermon on the Mount?  I mean I don't read Stephen King Novels but if I did and I got frightened does that mean I can sue him now?

Excuse me, but I have a bible right here written in 1900 published in London from the original Greek by Fleming H Russell Co.  that says "that men were indulging in vile practices with men."

So it's not like Zondervan just made this up now.  Good grief!  What about other books written all across the literature spectrum that mentions homosexuality?  Should we burn them now?  Back to burning books are we?

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, 39, of Canton, MI, who has a blog on Senator Obama's campaign website, is suing two major Christian publishers for violating his constitutionary rights and causing emotional pain.

Hmmmm I wonder what Obama things of this guy?

He's seeking $60 million dollars from Zondervan and $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits filed in the U.S. District Court in Michigan.

So would this come under the hate crimes legislation?  Is teaching the bible to our children or preaching from the pulpit now in these modern times considered hate speech?

It appears so.

This is a classic case of why we do need loser pays laws. His suit is frivolous, and he should be made to pay all costs. Maybe next time he wont be so greedy (another sin - he is one to burn in hell!).

"that men were indulging in vile practices with men."

I saw two guys changing the sign at the local gas station from $3.96 a gallon to $4.09 a gallon. If that doesn't constitute "men indulging in vile practices with men" then I don't know what does...

He must agree with it as the guy has a blog on his website,in just the same way as Brad agrees with everything everybody on this says.

Well Brad isn't running for President of the United States either.

Sue God. He's the one who said it.

"that men were indulging in vile practices with men." - so if it said men were indulging in vile practices with women would that mean all hetero relationships were wrong or just the ones who indulge in vile practices?

anyone who indulges in vile practices no matter the sex is wrong Loca. In God's eyes man with man and woman with woman is vile.

Also a man and woman having sex outside of marriage is wrong as well. Or a man having sex with animals or children is just as bad. But we're not legislating adultery or pediphilia or beastiality so that's why these things don't get the notice that homosexual marriage gets.

I just don't believe that and don't believe the bible says that. The bible stories that condemn homosexuality were condemning rape, prostitution and ritual pagan sex acts. It was written to the times they were written in and there was not an understanding of homosexuality then. We now accept interacial marriages but there was a time when many Christians believed that the Bible said it was wrong. The Bible didn't change...our understanding changed.

And for the record, I think this guys lawsuit is ridiculous. I also think the homosexual bashing of many Christian churches is very decidedly unChristian.

My priest once told me that the Church was resistant to change because it was a rock that moved little and did not swing with the passing fancy of each generation. Whether we agree with the Church or not, his statement is very true.

In a way you captured the essence of what he said. The Bible has not changed, nor does it really need to (or should). But our understanding has changed. And that makes for the lively debates of the meaning of it. And the multiple interpretations.

The Bible defines a marriage as between a man and a woman, and sex outside of marriage as sinful. Therefore, sex between same-gendered individuals is a sin, even in a homosexual marriage. Loca, even if the Bible was condemning those other acts, it's perfectly clear from these two statements that same-gendered sex is a sin, whether you want it to be or not.

I'm not going to get into the morality of it, just the lawsuit part. Ready? Here goes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Please, guy, give it a break.

1)The company didn't FORCE you to read anything, you read it of your own free will.

2) I'm eating a bag of potato chips now. If it makes me get fat, does that mean I can sue Lays for making deliciously tempting salty goodness?

3) Get over it. Choose to believe it and repent, or don't believe it and GET OVER IT. Can't have it both ways, bud.

I'm done now.

do you want me to show you?

A Christian church worth its salt would never "bash" homosexuals. I've been involved in many churches over the years and I've never witnessed this. Now, these same churches do not believe in marriage between a man and a man or a woman and a woman based on what scripture sayd, but I do not believe that's bashing anyone.

My priest once told me that the Church was resistant to change because it was a rock that moved little and did not swing with the passing fancy of each generation. Whether we agree with the Church or not, his statement is very true.

Yes, your priest was right. The world changes with every generation and whim but the word of God stays firm and is anchored. I don't know about you but I find that comforting.

well I was thinking about getting some Stepen King novels and scaring myself half to death and then suing him. Do you think it'll work?
