I agree that Fr Pfleger's sermon was totally inappropriate and very devisive but i don't think that he was preaching "white hatred". Racism and racial remarks come in many forms not all of which infer hatred.

To complement what smoothseas did, i'll give it a shot. Keep in mind 90% of hate-filled literature is the WAY they say things, not what they say.



So far he is just stating neutral facts. Unless you consider people of mixed race to be evil. By the way, a rule of thumb: if something is stated in full capital letters, it generally doesn't have anything of value to say.



What is a "muslim" school? A school that teaches islam to its student? If so, then the school he went to was not muslim. Watch interviews with who was I think the principle, and the CNN stories that accompanied it (surprisingly they looked into these claims of a muslim education). It was only muslim in the sense that a fair deal of the kids would have been muslim, because it was indonesia after all. Lastly, who gives a damn?



Assuming this diatribe is correct in that he went to prestigious high schools, what is wrong about that? Is this guy claiming, with "HOW?", that his mother was a drug lord or $2000 a night prostitute? I'm struggling to make sense of any of this email.



Civil rights is not productive? I thought the republicans loved 'freedom' more than anybody else? This email has stepped over the line of bigotry and proceeded to urinate on it. You'd be surprised how many presidents haven't run a corner hot dog stand. But I am sure he has held conventional jobs, even with this guys rigid and racist definition of conventional. He has had a solid career in the state legislature and the national senate, he has proved himself capable. If this email sender wants an actual CEO to be president, they'd be surprised how the country would turn out.



I love how this guy states this as if he only just realised.



Again, he manages to contradict himself in the same sentence this time. Entering politics at the state and then national level IS experience.




Before this guy is allowed to claim these things about the church, he should have to physically go there and meet the people. None of us are able to judge the hearts and minds of this congregation or even the pastor due to a few soundbytes we've seen on TV a billion times. Also, am I the only one who finds it blaringly obvious that this guy has a huge problem with black people?



Interpersonal relationships, especially ones of such long years, are never black and white. Leave the man alone for heavens sake. What does this have anything to do with diplomacy? It's like saying that since John Mccain was tortured by Asian people he should not be allowed to do diplomacy with them, as it's obvious he'll hate them and do something rash.



Hopefully he'll unite America together and kick out the people like the one who wrote this trash.

So, he's limited to what he would get in case of divorce, but you don't think being married to a multi-millionaire grants him access to quite a load of cha-ching pre-divorce? After all, it's called "How to Marry a Millionaire," not "How to Marry THEN DIVORCE a Millionaire."

Gene I may come across as a starry-eyed Obama supporter, but i'm not really, i'm not even American. I do like him quite a bit, and would much prefer him over Mccain, but the reason I sound so worked up is the stupid thing he's being attacked for. It depends on what your definition of love is.  I do love my neighbor no matter what nationality, gender, sexual or political preference. 

Love has nothing to do with highly charged emotion.  Love is an action word.  Love means going above and beyond feelings to do for another. 

That's not what we're dealing with here.  We're discussing whether or not we should vote for Obama in the next Presidential election.  This has nothing to do with love.

As I said in my last post, i'm not American, and i'm not trying to criticise anybody in particular here. However, from an outsiders perspective this obsession with the flag and the pledge of allegiance and flagpins and so on and so forth seems quite odd. Could anyone help explain it to me? I understand a politician needing to show some affection for the country (I can hear it in the rhetoric of every obama speech just as I can with every mccain speech), why does it need to be shown in such a narrowly-defined way?

Also KFC, I know you used it as a comparison but African causes affect the lives of millions of impoverished people. If Obama shows any interest in that continent, he would be the first President to do so.

Now there will be, my guess, alot of what Obama has said come back to haunt him now that the primaries are over.  You wait.  He's said an awful lot that should make every American sit up and take notice.  Especially in his books like above.   But what do you know about his wife Michelle? 

You may want to check out her senior thesis out from Princeton in 1985.  It's all about the Black Community and is very racist.  I'd be willing to bet she wears the racist pants in the family from what I've read.  Her maiden name was Michelle LaVaughn Robinson. 

She clearly identifies herself as a separatist.  Here's just an excerpt...and don't get all mad at the Republican party when they bring all this to the forefront.  She said:

  "There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost. " 

Sounds pretty close to what Obama said in his own book.... I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction"

Our President and First Lady should not be about race but about being an American first and foremost and I'm afraid with the video, pictures I've seen the last few days and by his own words, I'm not seeing it. 

 

That would be a matter of opinion. SO not a lie, just an interpretation.



That is in his book. If it is a lie, it is Obama's.



Again, a matter of interpretation. Some may think that "God F*ck America" is not hate. Others would disagree.
