Things I Like
Published on January 28, 2006 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Blogging
It's been about two full months of blogging for me. I never really wanted to, felt I really didn't have the time. But then one day after months of trying to talk me into it, my youngest son also a JU blogger set me up (so to speak).

"There" he said, "you're all set to go now...blog away."

I have to say it's been interesting. For the most part I enjoy meeting and talking with others and seeing the other viewpoints on any given topic. I've always liked to find out how people tick. Why they believe what they believe and why they do what they do.

Basically I find most are pretty respectful and even helpful. And just like the real world I guess I found out that there can be personality clashes even on a non visual contact venue such as JU.

What I find disturbing is those that threaten and are very rude and condemning because they don't like what you have to say. I'm glad to find tho that seems to be a small part of the JU community. I've decided just to stay away from such bloggers.

I am a Christian and I know that rubs people the wrong way. I've even been called arrogant and presumtous right here on JU. Why? Because I dared show confidence in what I believe. I actually have many friends of all persuasions, and at one point even brought a Muslim to a Baptist church with me. It didn't go over too well.

We've taken kids from all over the world into our home. We live in a community that takes in HS dorm students. I've had kids from Bulgaria, Germany, Africa, Serbia, and elswhere and still have communication with some these many years later. They were Eastern Orthodox, Baptist, Atheist, and Muslim and all have been and felt welcome in our home.

I'm not a denominationalist or what most may think a "religious" person is. As a truth seeker I won't stop until I reach my final destination. I call myself a WIP (work in progress) as I continue to grow and learn. I don't get swayed easily and tend to be a very skeptical person. I weigh everything very carefully before taking on any type of belief.

I love God with my whole heart, mind and soul and have found that Christ was right when he said..." I've come that you may have life and life more abundantly." He has given my family that abundant life and it is most rewarding to see others find this as well. Like I've said many times before.....I'm just a begger who found the bread ,and I want to show the others where the bread is., knowing full well there are many out there that are just not that hungry. I know too well that God cannot be a reality for anyone until the necessity makes it so.

Beside my love for God and family, I love to run. I'm a High School X-Country running coach and on good weeks run 30 miles a week. Actually the whole family runs in some capacity even got one running at the Division 1 Level and doing well.

When I'm not at the office and not running, I'm either teaching bible studies or studying for them. I'd love to share some of my studies here on JU and hope others will find it as interesting as I do. I love to do research and am open to show others how the scriptures fit together. I don't even mind a good debate as long as it doesn't get rude or condemning.

Gotta run.....literally.

Well I can't argue this really. Because obviously you feel as tho I did come across as arrogant. For that I am sorry. I know that my strong stance can come across that way but I really don't want to be clothed in this so I will try to be a bit better here.

Do you think the Pharisees thought Jesus was arrogant? Afterall he did come in and challange their way of thinking.

You're not Christ, KFC.

You're not challenging people's way of thinking in my opinion. To do that, you have to have a deep grasp of the other person's point of view already and speak to it.  That is what Jesus did -- he was able to empathize.  You don't.  You don't have the slightest understanding of other points of view on many of these discussions.  That's what makes you arrogant and Christ not.

No, it's not because of your christianity.  Don't try and make it into a 'I suffer for my faith, look a how the unbelievers persecute me' fest, because that's not how it is.  It's because you're condescending to those of us who do not share your faith.  And because you claim to know more than anyone else about a LOT of things, not just christianity.  You seem to think that you know more about everything than anyone else, and that's just not the way it is.

You're arrogant, period.  Not because you showed confidence in what you believe, just because you refuse to be wrong.  About ANYTHING, and even when other people have showed you that you are, in fact, wrong.

I'm sorely tempted to insert some scripture about arrogance and how unbecoming it is here, but that would make me no better than you....so I won't.

ohhhhhh so that's what makes me arrogant? Because I asked that question? That's it? I asked the question to a certain blogger because she was certain I was wrong and has been very vocal about it. This particular person I'm thinking is very hostile to Christianity and I felt very banged up after reading her comments to me. But that's ok....oh and by the way....she asked me the same question.

When she asked the question back to you (after she admitted that she has been wrong in the past) did you answer?  No.  Because you assume that you are right.  That is arrogance.  If you ask a question of somebody that you can't answer yourself, that is a problem.

So, have you ever been wrong?  I know I have.

BTW, JillUser is *not* hostile toward Christians.  You seem to take differing opinions as hostility.

She's one of the LEAST hostile people I know, towards anyone or anything.

If you feel banged up after HER comments, then I'd suggest you take your blog elsewhere, because it gets MUCH worse.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If comments like Jill's hurt your delicate ego, picketh up thy blog and moveth somewhere elseth.

Yep.  That is very true.

Just to be clear here: The debate she had with JillUser was on JillUser's blog.   No one should ever suggest another blogger go somewhere else because they didn't agree with someone on another blog (I don't think you intended it to come out that way).

KFC has every right to post whatever views, opinions, etc. she wants on her own blog.  Moreover, she has the right to control who can and can't talk on her blog.  That is the right of every blogger on JoeUser.

I think a more apt statement might be "If you feel banged up after JillUser's comments, then you will probably not want to debate religion on other people's blogs since she's about as gentle as you can get."

But KFC should feel free and safe to evangalize Christ's message all she wants on HER blog (which is kfc.joeuser.com).

I agree.

KFC I like reading your stuff. You may come off as arrogant to some people. So what? You're not the first person, or the last to do so.

Keep on keeping on.

Some of the people accused of being the most "arrogant" on JU I enjoy reading the most.....it's never boring!

Love ya sister!

I don't, personally, find arrogance a bad thing.  Wouldn't the world be boring if everyone just "kind of" had an opinion?  Debates are the spice of JU.  But, it is also good when you know you are being arrogant.  I'm arrogant a lot (more on here than I am in person, though) but I know it...and I embrace it LOL

However, I think it is also important not to be quick to judge people when you are relatively new to a site, then use that judgment in the body of an article.  Typically, that leads to "unfavorable" comments.

Nope, I didn't mean it to come out that way. My intention was to make sure KFC knows that it can get much, much worse than the slights and insults she says she felt 'banged up' by on Jill's blog. I should have used a different word to 'blog'....like 'attitude' or 'argument'.

I still stand by the'if you can't take the heat' part though.

I spend a lot of time with Brad, trust me, he's arrogant.

You say that like it's a BAD thing!

I also think you can disagree wthout comment. I disagree with most of JillUser's views on religion (but she IS gentle, I'll grant you that); but I won't get into it on HER blog. I just wish there was a way to acknowledge my having been there and the quality of her work without expressing or implying agreement (LOL!)

Ok, first of all......I never mentioned anyone's name nor have I resorted to any name calling. So since Jill's name came up.....notice she was the one calling me names and she got very irritated when I put the scientific facts in front of her going to published scientifc journals to boot. I actually expected this reaction. I wasn't surprised. She didn't like the fact that I wasn't debating her as she thought I should with hard facts........criticized me on that and when I came up with the facts kicked me off her site. And she's not hostile?

She ripped into me....and told me not to come on her thread again or she would blacklist me. But before she said that she told me how wrong I was and right she was. I'm not allowed to defend myself? But I'm the bad guy? Ok so be it. You may want to revisit the exchange between the two of us. I know one thing. I've never blacklisted anyone nor have I told any in not so uncertain terms to get of my blog.

Also I know hostility when I see it.

And no Draginol....I'm not Christ and never claimed to be. Tho I do represent him. I'm sure the Pharisees thought him to not only be arrogant but he was surfing on their turf. You write as tho you believe him in him. Do you?

Karma....I know you and I disagree on this topic, about Jill, Christ, etc....but I don't think you're mean, and you are welcome anytime. I did answer more than once to Jill...(can't help it if she doesn't like my answers) on being wrong. First I said very plainly more than once that I don't have the answers but I do know who does. Also I wrote in that I was wrong about my earlier assertion on Lucy after doing a bit more digging into the matter.

But when it comes to the subject of Christ....am I wrong? No would be my answer. I have had more than one encounter with him......I know as well as I know my parents are alive that he too is alive and well and involoved in every aspect of my life.

She as you know doesn't believe in Christ or that he is God. So my question to not just her but to anyone who makes such an assertion is .....What if you're wrong? Could it be you just haven't met him yet?

I like to challange my new friends intellectually to examine the claims that JC is God's son; that taking on human flesh, He lived among real people and died for us so that we can live in eternity with him. He's still changing people's lives in the 21st century.

For Tova, Doc and HC.....thank's I needed that~~
