Are They The Only Ones With A Sacred Holiday?
Published on August 12, 2010 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Politics

My husband receives government notices everyday at work regarding anything financial because of his line of work.  Any type of tax law change  or anything regarding the tax law he knows before the general public usually does.

He sent me this particular notice today today and thought it interesting that our Federal Government is purposely targeting Muslims in a notice meant only for them.  Can you imagine such a notice given to the Christians in honor of their Christmas holiday?  He's never seen anything like this before.  Think about it.  Since when did the goverment write the Roman Catholic Church such a personal letter regarding their religious holiday?  Southern Baptists?  How about the Hindus?  Don't they all have "sacred holidays?"

What in the world is going on with the federal government and the muslims?

My question though is..where is the separation of church and state here?

*Treasury Department Statement Marking the Beginning of Ramadan*

*WASHINGTON *- As Muslims in the United States and around the world
begin their observance of Ramadan, the U.S. Department of the Treasury
recognizes the importance of this period of intense devotion, reflection
and charitable giving. Charitable giving and philanthropy are core
American values, reflected in many faiths and traditions, and are of
particular significance within the Muslim faith during the holy month of
Ramadan.

The Treasury Department fully supports the ability of American Muslims
- and Muslims worldwide - to fulfill their religious obligations through
charitable giving and seeks to advance charitable giving at home and
abroad, while protecting the charitable sector from the threat posed by
those who seek to abuse this sacred obligation. In recent years,
Treasury has strengthened its partnership with the charitable sector and
donor community to promote transparency and to safeguard against such
abuse.

The Treasury Department will continue to work closely with the
charitable sector and Muslim American communities to promote our common
goals of safe and effective charitable activity and to protect the
sector from exploitation by terrorist organizations. We look forward to
the continued development of this partnership.

So is this you admiting that there are terrorist christians out there that want to bomb churches during christmas, and that the US needs to spend time and energy guarding churches in the countries that  we are fighting in with an overwhelming population of christians who support us that are providing information about these terrorist christians and where they are hiding? [sarcasm]Oh, but of course, it's just the dirty muslims, who cares if they want to have a safe place to worship without muhammed running in and blowing them all up, and who cares that they might have a better idea of what's going on on the ground than the intelligence community and can actually help us find some of the bad guys you insist we absolutely have to blow billions of dollars to find. Nope, god forbid the government actually recognizes the fact that the people in the region that speak the language and are probably getting offers from Al-Qa'ida to help blow us all up, could help us if we help them.[/sarcasm] Make your argument again when we are at war in the vatican trying to root out those terrorist christian fundamentalists and you might have a case. Until then, you just sound like a selfcentered 5 year old screaming "WHERE'S MINE?"

As for the separation of church and state, I see nothing in the notice saying, "Oh, hey, we're going to make islam the national religion. Praise allah". It also doesn't look all that personal to me, just a standard "we help charities out" form letter filling in the muslim holiday and related adjectives and groups where applicable.

See, just like that, I transformed a "personal message to the muslims" into a form letter that could be sent to any number of organizations, but because of your christocentrism and apparant hatred of muslims that seems to infect everyone on the right, you got your panties in a bunch because they got it first and the you didn't.

Because there has never been a christian message from the head of the US government to give praise and honor for christian holidays?

http://www.theholidayspot.com/easter/presidential_proclamations.htm

http://www.theholidayspot.com/christmas/proclamations.htm

and these message are saying how wonderful it is.  The message you have posted is hardly ringing with endorsements for this religious time - merely noting that it is important

Interesting. One government job that I used to hold (as a defense contractor) a while back, all employees were instructed not to say Merry Christmas, Happy Easter, etc., unless the client said it first. It was punishable by termination and was mandated by the government SLA's. The statement looks like some PC BS to let this particular group know big brother "cares". Touching.

doesn't matter...they are not supposed to be in the religious business remember?  What are they doing sending out such a statement?

Nitro, quite a bit has happened here in the last 20 years regarding Christmas/Easter etc.  My kids are only in their 20's but when they started elementary Christian holidays were celebrated in public school including Christian songs sung at their little concerts.  Little by little, year by year many of us started to see the subtle difference as they  step by step started doing away with such holiday celebrations.   I remember our music teacher at the time telling us how she had to sneak in certain songs sung at the Christmas pageant but would eventually be made to stop all together.  She was hanging in as long as she could at the time.

Now during  the Christmas season from what I understand you can't even use red and green anything because it might conjure up some sacred holiday feelings and we wouldn't want the kiddos to think about that now would we?

ok, I can see you need schooling D.B.

First off, this isn't a form letter sent out to every group.  This is purposely targeted at the Muslims.  Period.  Don't expect the Christians are going to get this at Christmas.

Second of all...silenced in argument quite often leads to personal abuse via name calling and is a sure sign of a defeated cause.

Nicknames, insulting epithets and violent language are favorite weapons pulled during these times.

Always make sure you don't resort to such tactics if you wish to at least appear as if you have a good point.

oh and one last thing...I don't hate Muslims.  Have you read the news lately?  Front page?  Did you notice that a group of good humanitarian Christians just got gunned down in Afghanistan for absolutely nothing?  They were there helping the Afgan people medically.  I'd say the Muslims are in the hateful business these days not the Christians.

How many Christians do you see running around with guns taking people out?  How many Christians do you see blowing up buildings in the name of Christ over there?  Vengeance and retaliation is not part of the Christian bible.

You may want to do a google on Jim Elliott, a missionary to the Ecuador Indians.  It's quite a story.  In fact a movie was made from his life called,  "The End of the Spear."  Besides being killed  (along with his 4 buddies) by the people he was trying to help he's best known for this quote:

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."

His wife Elisabeth and the other wives of the men who were killed in cold blood went and lived among their husband's killers (in the jungle) for years lovingly bringing the whole tribe to Christ.

Neither did these wives hate the men who slaughtered their husbands in cold blood.  That's the mark of a true Christian.

Don't expect the Christians are going to get this at Christmas.

You're right - the messages sent from the head of your government twice a year celebrating Christian holidays are aimed at every body in the country.

What are they doing sending out such a statement?

trying to prevent charitable donations going to terrorists.

on Aug 13, 2010

Interesting. One government job that I used to hold (as a defense contractor) a while back, all employees were instructed not to say Merry Christmas, Happy Easter, etc., u

Some people are more equal than others.

on Aug 13, 2010

oh and one last thing...I don't hate Muslims

If you actually read and understood, you would have seen the word apparant. If this had been to any other group, exept maybe the LGBT community, you wouldn't have said a word, but, because it was the muslims, you got all torqued off as noted in this quote.

I'd say the Muslims are in the hateful business these days not the Christians.

But of course you aren't anti-muslim at all. Show me proof that every single self-identified muslim is full of hate and wants to kill us all and show me proof that every single self-identified christian is full of love and goodness, and you might have an argument.

How many Christians do you see running around with guns taking people out?  How many Christians do you see blowing up buildings in the name of Christ over there?

That was the first question I asked you,

So is this you admiting that there are terrorist christians out there that want to bomb churches during christmas, and that the US needs to spend time and energy guarding churches in the countries that we are fighting in with an overwhelming population of christians who support us that are providing information about these terrorist christians and where they are hiding?

If you are saying yes there are, then please enlighten me as to where we are fighting in a primarily christian nation, and which faction of christianity is doing the terrorizing and is trying to recruit? But apparantly you were too busy trying to derive some insult from my post to actually read what I said.

 insulting epithets

Deny you are christocentric. Go ahead, Deny it. Then go ahead and turn in your christianity card, because by denying that you are christocentric, you deny that you are christian.

doesn't matter...they are not supposed to be in the religious business remember?  What are they doing sending out such a statement?

Well then I guess you have no problem with public schools cutting all mention of any religion when discussing it in history (Goodbye crusades and a good chunk of every civilizations history), and with the federal government no longer putting up a tree, and the elimination of god from money and the pledge of allegiance as well as all other federal documents dating all the way back to the begining. Or do you only have a problem with it when it's not specifically related to christianity? Oh but that's right, all christians have an open view of the world and can accept anything that comes down the pipes.

Agreed!

on Aug 13, 2010

exactly...the disclaimer basically means everything I just said means absolutely nothing.

and DB it shows because I never said EVERY SINGLE Muslim is hateful and wants to kill us.  I'm pretty sure my eye doctor down here is a Muslim by looking at his name and face yet I still chose to go to him.  He's very nice and I like him.  I don't blame him for what some are doing in the name of Allah.

You need to put down the controls and pick up the books to help you in reading comprehension.

on Aug 20, 2010

erm,

you all did not get it.

the treasury department is just asking for money, as charity, especially during the lent, is a fundamental part of the muslim faith.

on Aug 20, 2010

the treasury department is just asking for money, as charity, especially during the lent,

I thought they just printed up what they need.

on Aug 21, 2010

again...where's the separation of church and state here?

Since when do churches give money to the government?

on Aug 22, 2010

they don't. individuals do.

usually the imam gives the members of his community advice on donating. just as christian priests do.

unfortunately in the muslim world there are ties between humanitarian aid and support for terrorism in some organisations. hamas for example is mostly an aid organisation. :/

so actually this not such a dumb move by your government as usually.
