Spring is here! Yippee!
I love Spring. I love the cool fresh air. I love to go out and walk around my gardens and see new life sprouting. It's so awesome to see the new growth. It's a time when weeds aren't yet a problem giving me time to concentrate on the old growth of the plants I've neglected all winter.
Spring is a time of rejuvenation. It's a great time to plant flowers and vegetable seedlings. It's a great time to visit the local nurseries to see what's new in the world of plants. It's also quite the crowded place to be this time of year as I found out earlier this week.
Today I visited such a place and came home with yellow knockout roses, a beautiful large, salmon colored azeala, petunias and a couple of lattice frames to hold up my about to bloom bourganvias from last year.
Earlier this week I purchased a couple of patio tomato plants and some bright annuals. I love fresh tomatoes. It's nice to have a couple of big pots on the patio bursting with little cherry tomatoes. Nothing like eating a tomato fresh off the vine.
I spent four hours yesterday cleaning away the frost damage from some of what were once very large shrubs. This past winter has been the coldest and hardest in many years here. Everyone has at least some frost damage. Thankfully my very large Queen Palms faired quite well. I have two smaller versions of another variety of Palms that didn't do quite as well but time will tell if they will rebound or not. They look kind of sick right now.
Spring is here. Well not technically. That will happen in just a few short days. But to me, it's close enough! Now I've got to plant what I picked.
