Well it's happened. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I'd still believe it. So I guess seeing isn't always believing, but I already knew that, LOL. You can actually feel it.
What am I talking about? The temperature.
I saw the temperature reach 101 today as I stared at the thermometer!
Yesterday we had been told we would reach 100. But as far as we could see, checking it hourly we only got up to 99 and never quite reached that centurian mark.
That changed today. I saw the 100 degrees and then watched it go up to 101 while I was still looking at the digital thermometer. The heat index is actually even higher.
I've been running in this up soupy mix thru last week but opted out yesterday which is the first day of our running week. Instead I biked next to my very macho husband as he ran 4.3 miles in the blazing heat. It was about 97 then. It was after 7 pm so it wasn't like it was noon or in the afternoon or anything. He even beat me up the steep hill near the end as I struggled to get my bike in lower gear. I don't know how he could do this. Well I do, but I think he's crazy.
It's so hot, it's hard to breathe when you do any sort of exercise and it's increasingly getting worse. I think it's going to break up later this week. I hope so because while I love the heat, this is past the breaking point.
So now I'm looking at even a hotter day than yesterday. Our habit is to run in the early evening and then eat dinner. So now I'm thinking maybe we should skip the run today and instead go biking and hit the nearest pool with no one in it. Then we can come home nice and refreshed for dinner.
Ha! An empty pool? Like that's going to happen.
