It's Graduation Time

Gah!  Why didn't I check before making my decision first?  I should have known.  Liberty always has great speakers.  I could kick myself now.....*Kick* there I did.  Still don't feel much better.

Next Saturday is graduation day at LU and I could have been there sitting near the front.  Turns out I'm going to be there anyway but not until early evening and by then graduation is over.

I finished my two year course I was taking for LU in February.  They sent me my Diploma and a form asking if I was planning on walking  for graduation.  I had the choice to walk or not and I opted out.  I figured why make the trip for that when I didn't have to.

Then my son decided to move to Iowa from Lynchburg and asked if we would help him move.  Of course.  So I got busy figuring out the travel plans and making sure we could do this.  My only request was that we could somehow be in Lynchburg to visit Thomas Road on Sunday.  So we make plans for the right weekend and then I find out it's the same weekend as the graduation.

First I thought....."oh bother, there's going to be lots of traffic around the LU campus."  Then..........

I find out that Ben Stein is the speaker.

Gah!

Last year I was there and it was Chuck Norris.  Since I'm not a big Norris follower, his selection didn't mean that much to me.  He was ok.  Kind of a nice guy but not as good as Sean Hannity was a few years before.  In fact I don't think Norris has much speaking experience and it showed but he's an awfully nice guy.

But Ben Stein?  I would love to hear him give the commencement speech in person.  I bet he'll have some pretty witty stuff to tell the graduates.  Of course, I loved his "Expelled" movie and highly recommend it.

I suppose there's a chance I still may see him on Sunday in church at Thomas Road either in the am or the pm services.  Sometimes they put these great speakers on the agenda for Sunday night.  I'll have to check.

At least I'll be in town and still have a chance.  We'll see what next week brings.
