Another Side of The Fence is About To Go Up

Sent to me by a friend.

A chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments
not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

big enough to take away everything you have.' - Thomas Jefferson

Hey KFC, I have a question for you:

Did you or do you support the PATRIOT Act?

on Oct 09, 2008

Sounds like our new gestapo - err National Obama police force.

First of all, using corn and building a fence to catch a pig is time and resource consuming...not very efficient if you want bacon.

Second of all this:

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

Did you know pigs are one of the fastest animals to resort to being feral?  If domesticated pigs escape from a farm they will become a big ol' hairy wild pig in a matter of weeks.  Just look around the Southern US for examples.  Australia has a huge problem with them as well. Pigs don't forget how to forage, nor do goats.  Pigs are also pretty darn smart.

Domestic sheep, however, are completely retarded and cannot fend for themselves.

Hence the term Sheeple.  I think George Orwell knew that and that is why the sheep in Animal Farm were so stupid.

Pigs are very smart...and they have eyes that look like humans.

Cows are also retarded- they've become totally domesticated.

I'm not sure about this pig story.  It's been around the internet, but I wonder if anyone has tried it.  I mean, it's a nice analogy and all, but I wonder if there is any truth at all in it.

Gotta say, I love seeing quotes from famous brights.  It's especially pleasing to see it on YOUR blog, KFC.

Feeding pigs for a length of time until they are used to it, then building sections of fence gradually to entrap them?  I have doubts as to how that would be an effective way to catch pigs.  If you're in an undeveloped country, you won't have the resources to be using corn or any of your grains as pig bait, then building a fence slowly around the area.  You're more likely to shoot them if you want meat...or killing a sow to capture piglets to start raising which is a lot safer than trapping big angry pigs.

I've got lots of Jefferson quotes you may not like.  Even tho he's considered one of the least religious of the forefathers his writings and beliefs compared to today make him to be quite a bible thumper.

I mean, it's a nice analogy and all, but I wonder if there is any truth at all in it.

To me it almost makes sense with any animal.  If they're hungry enough captivity would run second to filling their bellies.  I think that was the whole point.

and they have eyes that look like humans.

really?  Hmmmm learn something new everyday.  I didn't know that.  Now I'm wondering how do the monkey's eyes compare?

Did you or do you support the PATRIOT Act?

Why do you ask?  You know how patriotic I am.....God bless the good ol' USA......

I know you're patriotic.  Just indulge me.  Do you or do you not support the PATRIOT Act?

They don't willingly become captive to eat...the analogy doesn't hold up in a literal setting.  You can trap something with food, but they don't take kindly to being denied their freedom...in which case they'll try to break out and some may succeed while others may fail...but if there's an opening, they'll take it.

Sometime the only way to break out is to flee to another country.  Our forefathers did.  Perhaps it may be time to consider this option again.  Any empty planets out there worth exploring?
