Time to Stay Home

Yep.  Our very first hurricane as Floridians is coming directly at us.  All reports have it coming right over us.

I'm excited but only because I know it's only a Category 1 and there should be minimal damage hopefully.

Hurricanes, especially living inland, don't bother me so much but I'm scared out of my mind when I think about tornadoes.  They scare the heck out of me.  They did say, however, we would have tornado warnings, as a result of this hurricane.  So not liking that part.

What gets me about all this is the fact that people are going to the store in droves to buy water among other supplies..  Maybe it's the Yankee in me....... but buying water?  I mean can't you just turn on the tap fill jugs, fill buckets and fill the bathtub?   That's what I'm planning on doing.  I've got some cleaned out milk jugs I'll fill up and put in the fridge.

Someone yesterday told me he's not preparing too heavily for this storm only that he bought water for his dog.  For the dog?  Huh?  Sounds like a good job for the bathtub to me.

The only preparing we are going to do since this isn't a much higher storm is to go around the yard and bring in anything that moves.  So the flowerpots and lawn and lanai furniture will come into the house.  The BBQ grill will be brought into the lanai and that's about it.  We're also going to fill the car and golf cart with gas but that will be about it.

Then we hunker down, stay home and wait.  A category 1 should be not much more than high winds and rain of which we are in so dire need of.

Enjoy the rain. We just went on mandatory water restrictions here.

Fay, go away!

Let's blame Pres. Bush for global warming! Think they'll blame Bush for Fay?

Think they'll blame Bush for Fay?

We already have - being right next to DC, we know it is his fault we dont have rain!

I've lost count how many days we're into this "Fay" storm.  But it's still here and it's either for Day 5 or Day 6.

This morning we woke up to somewhat sunny skies but it felt very humid.  Not hot just humid.

We went to a funeral and while inside the church we could hear the thunder starting.  Sure enough it started pouring like there was no tomorrow.  As IF we hadn't enough rain already.   And it poured and poured and poured buckets for a good half hour.  It stopped and has been kind of dark and overcast ever since.

So we got home turned on the TV and Fay is still here.  She's not left us yet.  I think she rather likes Florida.  It looks like we've got the tail end or backside of part of Fay today.

I am so sick of Fay.  Now I'm wondering how many "Fay" babies were born this week.  I would NOT be choosing that name if it were me.  Fay is not funny and very fickle.
