We went to another movie last night. We saw Prince Caspian and loved it.
We looked in the paper and scoped out the movies and then went online to get the review ratings. We looked at "Maid of Honor" "Prince Caspian" "Bucket List" among others. Just about all of the moves garnered bad reviews except "Prince Caspian" which got a B+. Since there were no movies above a B+ we decided to go check it out. We were not disappointed.
We saw the first "Chronicles of Narnia" movie a few years ago and thought it was pretty good and were looking forward to seeing another C.S. Lewis classic come to life.
This movie was so much better than the latest "Indiana Jones" movie we saw a few weeks back. This time the movie, which was quite long in length, kept my full attention. I have to admit Jonesy was losing me a few times especially during the long and tedious hitting back and forth scenes. Like I said before, it kind of reminded me of an old John Wayne movie.
Anyhow I would highly recommend "Prince Caspian" for young and old alike. Of course if you have kids especially, reading the book first is always the best.
One of my fondest memories of kiddie bedtime when my kids were little was story hour. We had a habit every night before bedtime of reading. First it was the little baby books, then the toddler books and then we did all of the Dr. Seuss and Berenstein Bear Books before we started in on the classics.
We especially like series styled books. We read all of the "Chronicles of Narnia" books as well as all of the "Redwall" series books, two of the most popular book series my boys liked.
I remember my son Brian loving the mouse character, in the Narnian books, whose name was "Reepicheep." He's a large talking and very brave mouse carrying a sword and wears a red plume on his head. Everytime Reepicheep would speak in the series, Brian would giggle out loud. He loved that mouse. It's no wonder we got Brian a real sword upon his college graduation. His love for swords probably got started right in our living room as we read all about this very adorable and quite humorous mouse character.
I completely forgot this until I saw the movie and then I laughed out loud. Actually I think Reepicheep, definitely an A type personality, stole the second half of the show.
So I would definitely recommend going to see this movie and if you haven't read the book....it's a must. I believe C.S. Lewis would have been very proud to see his characters come to life for a whole new generation of kids to enjoy.
Even the big kids like me.
