North To VA
Published on May 8, 2008 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Blogging

Ok, it's finally hot today.  We've been told all winter to wait.  Wait, cuz it's coming. " You just wait and you'll see," a statement made usually followed with a snicker and a smirk on the face.  Ha!  This is usually said by people who have NEVER seen snow!  How bad can it be?

Well it's hot.  This is the really the very first day that I'm sweating without actually doing anything.  I can just sit here and sweat all by myself with not an ounce of activity going on.  So I'm sure humidity is way up today. There doesn't seem to be any breeze at all which is not normal for around here.

Of course being the frugal (read cheap) people we are we are so reluctant to turn on the air.  But I have a feeling it may even go on tonight for the first time.

Really.  We need to find out if it even works afterall.

We saw the forecast last night and it was filled with all 90's starting I guess today and continuing thru the weekend.  All sunny 90's on the chart with no mention of rain.   We need rain!

The grass is looking a bit peaked and my tomato plants are crying for water.  They sort of have that droopy look.  My tomatoes are doing great tho and I'm enjoying nice plump cherry tomatoes already.

The good thing is we are heading North to VA this weekend for David's graduation.  It's so funny to say we're going North when I still think of VA as South.  Weird.

I mean, North to me is Maine or anywhere in New England.  VA is not North but gotta be logical here for once and say ya, we're going North.

At least it's cool in the North, right?

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is perfect here! Mid 70s to low 80s, rain every 5-10 days (and a lot when it does). Breezes, no humidity. Perfect!

Of course that wont last. And in a week I will be seeing what you are seeing.

It hasn't even begun to get hot in FL yet.

When I left it was in the 90's and very humid.  We did put on the Air and it felt AWESOME!  When we got home earlier today it was just right.  It's like in the 80's with no humidity to speak of so I guess we left just in time and got back when it was over!  We still need rain tho.

ya, I know and my mantra has been all winter...."well I'm trading that loooong cold harsh winter for three hot months....how bad can it be?"

Of course that wont last. And in a week I will be seeing what you are seeing.

I was freezing in VA.  Especially yesterday (Sunday).  When we left at about 3 pm it was raining hard with thunder storms and it was very cold like 50's.  The day of the graduation it was nice and sunny but cool.  I was sitting there in the outside football stadium a tad cool even crunched in with people all around me.

well I guess I got the "a lot when it does" cuz it poured buckets for a while.  No humidity and lots of cool breezes.  It was nice tho on Friday and Saturday for the most part.

Have a safe trip.

thanks, we did.  Very little traffic, no delays and nice weather outside of leaving VA for a short bit.  We catch our breath and then head for Chicago in about a week and a half.  First comes graduation then comes marriage apparently.  hahaha then comes baby....but different couple....see you in just over a month T.  I'll be coming in on the 24th of June.

Well this sounds a bit like my husband. He says...and I quote, "This is your friend, she's female. Have fun. I won't be participating."

He can't stand when women get together and talk.

oh geeeze...tell him I said he's a party pooper!

What's he think we're going to "participate" in?  Sounds like we have all sorts of "participatory" plans I don't know about...hahaha....getting Krispy Kremes are for females only?

Well let me see if I can explain since after 21 years I don't truly get it.

Imagine this with an English accent............

My husband was brought up with "manners." There is a certain way to do things, and one of those things includes introductions.

When meeting a new person, one is generally introduced by a trusted family member or friend. The introducer then is able to smooth out rough spots, keep conversation flowing, and help build a bridge (if one is so desired by both parties) to friendship.

When this route is not available, like with work, school etc..it is better to keep strangers at a distance, watch them for a length of time, then decide if they are indeed friendship material. Once the decision is made, (and it usually takes a loooooooong time) a safe time and place is set for further investigation.

Everyone else falls under acquaintance and stranger. Both categories fall under the "don't waste too much time on."

English accent off.....

Sad, and I am being a little hard about it...what can I say? Lots of history there. My husband won't be joining us for a couple reasons. 1. He really does hate to hear women chatter...and yes I DO CHATTER! 2. He does not believe the internet is a good place to make friends. (Remember I told ya we had some angst the first time I wanted to meet you? And the fact two men accompanied you....he was not happy with that..though we found a common ground...which was basically me doing it anyway.)

Don't get me wrong. He's not rude. He will greet you (I want him to meet ya), speak, but he won't be having any in depth conversations or "going" anywhere with us. He saves those for the defined people above...and it takes years and years to make that list sista!

It sounds weird, and I really am mucking up explaining it, but you will see....he's close lipped, and even closer with the boundaries of people he lets into his life. (My friends don't count because he's not expected to entertain or interact with them.)

Should be FUN...heh.

And in case your wonderin...my family asks him all the time..."WHY did you marry T? Doesn't she drive ya nuts?"

Nothing like family.
