Where The Deer & The Moose Hate to Play
I called home today. Home being Maine. I still love Florida but it doesn't quite feel like home yet. Home to me is back in the deep Maine woods. I miss my friends but do not miss the snow.
Anyhow depending on who I talked to there was about 12-18 inches of the white fluffy stuff that fell from the sky today. I sure am not missing that. It was cold enough here today. The NE has been getting clobbered lately with cold and snow. Already, my dad said, they have had more snow this season than all of last year. While I feel bad for the elderly and those who have to travel in this stuff it's a boon for the ski industry. They really needed this.
They have another storm scheduled Friday. My girlfriend said there was no school on Friday or today and this coming Friday doesn't look so good either. I'm sure the kiddos are having a grand ol' time. I remember those days. I loved snow days.
Did anyone read the Boston Globe article about global warming? It was written by Jeff Jacoby and he contends this global warming theory is nothing but hysteria. I wonder if Gore read his article? I guess it doesn't matter. He got his prize already. I'm sure they're not about to take it back.
In the article Jacoby writes that record low temps were set all over the world in 2007 with the start of winter last year in South America as one of the coldest on record.
The predictions last year condradicted the facts. It was predicted , by many, to be the warmest year ever when in fact the global average temp was the same as 2006 which was essentially the same as 2005 and so on, going all the way back to 2001.
So in reality for the last seven or eight years not much has happened either up or down when it comes to the average global temperature. Seems kind of funny given the hysteria during these same seven years or so about our earth going to hell in a handbasket.
So has global warming stopped as Jacoby suggests or did it even get started in the first place?
There are many freezing all over the place and are wishing for a wee bit of global warming right now. Those oil bills are not pleasant to deal with at $3.25 a gallon.
