Today was a very nice day after a few days of chilly weather. I enjoyed the warmer temps immensely.

Today I saw many people on the roads, walking, jogging or biking after days of what seemed to be a ghost town around here. I was one of them and glad to be there.

Today I played pickleball with my husband and my son and I lost every game I played. But I had fun. Pickleball is addicting.

Today I went for a nice run before and after going to the rec center. I took the long way around and met the guys who were enjoying a mad game of tennis. They couldn't get on the pickleball courts because they were all taken.

Today I started packing for our cruise. We are going on the same one as we did last year. Only this time we can drive to the boat. It's a good thing I booked this when I did, because right now with the move and all we're pretty broke with lots of bills to pay off. If I didn't book when I did, we wouldn't be going. But I'm glad we are. I had a blast last year.

Today I got to pray with a friend over the phone and to help settle her fears and anxiety. I miss seeing my friends back home and cherish the phone conversations daily. I have yet to really cultivate real new friendships here although there is one possibility. I like a new gal I met soon after we moved here. I baked cookies for her and her husband for Christmas.

Tomorrow is another day, but for now I just like to relax in the happenings of today. Tomorrow brings a fresh new day of both troubles and joy and I'll deal with it when it comes. For now, today is a good day.

If life is a vapor, what do you call a day?

Friends can be difficult to make in new places.  Have you all decided on a church?  Will you be attending the one he was asked to preach at?

Yes FS it did warm up and nicely. This morning started out quite foggy and ended up quite pleasant.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll write about it when I get back.

Yes, I've spent my whole life in one state so this is new for me. I did move around some in the State of Maine but for the most part kept my friends even tho I moved around. My very best friend is living where she's always been two moves away now. We still are on the phone with each other weekly. But I've yet to find a gal friend around here yet but know it takes time.

We are still at the same church we started at the very first week. He preached today and we received quite a few positive comments. One older lady came up, squeezed his arm and said "I'm so glad to see there are still good preachers out there under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit." It was a good sermon on Isa 58.

They have an interim, for the time being, all picked out...which is the Billingsly I wrote about earlier. Today we went out to lunch with many of them and had a great time of fellowship.

What is Pickle Ball?
on Jan 13, 2008
Pickle ball is sort of like tennis and sort of like table tennis.

It's played on a court smaller than a tennis court. It has four squares, two on each side of the net. It's usually played with doubles. You play it with a wiffle ball and a hard paddle which makes a sound I can hear from a mile away. The pickleball courts are usually full where the tennis courts are not.

There is not as much running with pickleball compared to tennis. For one reason the size of the court and another you quite often play with a partner.

The game is to 11 and you only score on a serve. This game was created out west somewhere (Seattle?) but is most popular in the Villages according to a newspaper article. There are leagues and tournaments all over the place. It's a blast to play.

Here there are six pickleball courts together when you walk in thru the door. RIght next to the pickleball courts are the tennis courts and I think there are three tennis courts usually put together there. IF the courts are full, we either play tennis and wait for an open court or we go down the road to the next rec center to find an open court. THere are rec centers all over the place. These courts and equipment are all brand new and supplied for our use. They even have a big jug of cold water with cups nearby for us. Pretty cool.

I'm a fair player. I usually start out well but can't keep it up very well and end up losing most of the time even starting out with a big lead. I led my son by 7 points only to have him come from behind and beat me. So I have to keep on practicing.
