Congratulations to Josh McDougal
Last week Josh finally won Nationals in College X-Country. Finally. This was his fourth time towing the line and he came through winning by one second. He has come as close as fourth two years ago and is predictably undefeated during the regular season going into the final big meet. Well, until this year that is. He was undefeated all season finally going all the way to win the big one.
Josh is my son's roomie. David writes for Liberty's School Newspaper "The Champion." Everytime Josh runs David writes up the story using quotes from Josh as well as the other guys from the house. They love to be quoted btw. Sometimes they just tell David to make them look good....lol.
This 14 time All American is something to behold. When I was at their house last summer I took pictures of all his trophies and All Americans. I thought it was pretty cool. My husband is wearing an old pair of Josh's running shoes. Hahahah I think he's hoping they will make him run faster. So far no course records have been broken in our neck of the woods.
Just about everytime Josh runs he breaks the course record. This year somebody dared to break his record on a particular course, and when it was his turn to race, he promptly set another one on the same course. He owns records all over the US.
In fact, he was also named the NCAA Athlete of the Year right after he won Nationals.
It's been great for David to room with him these last two years. He loves to run himself being on the team the first two years and now watching his buddy do so well. Josh has asked if David will write his book someday. I'll have to get a signed copy.
Nike has been after him to sign with them for some time which he will eventually do after graduation David said. I heard it's for close to a million bucks. That was before Nationals so I'm thinking he's gonna get a raise already. Pretty good for a newly graduated young person. To run for money is a dream come true.
His next sight is on the Olympics which will be held in China next year. David is probably going to go and get front row seats to watch his buddy run if he makes it. Josh not only runs well in x-country but also runs the 5K and 10K distance as well burning rubber as he runs by.
So keep an eye on this young phenom. Here's a link so you can see what he looks like.....
