From The North to the South

Two Weeks

In two weeks we'll be moving. We're maybe, half packed. I still have a garage full of stuff to sell. We lowered the price of the house by alot. We are now told we have the best deal in town. It's a dead market, so you have to do what you have to do. We don't want to be sitting on this house all winter. The house is all prepped, painted, swept and looking fine. Isn't that the case? It's never looked so good. Now we just need a buyer.

I still have to do at least one more garage sale. Then it all goes to the church, the dump or anyone who wants it. I've actually been giving stuff away as I hear a need anyway. We made enough in the first two garage sales to pay for the rental truck. We are renting a Budget Truck with a car carrier so we can ride together.

Today the ladies I teach gave me a very nice luncheon. I was honored and sad at the same time. Weird. I'm going to miss everybody. What are we thinking? Today a few on my x-country team were talking about my moving. One of the boys said, "I'm actually going to miss you." as he munched on the cookies and apples I brought along. Coming from a 16 year old, that's a huge compliment and I took it as one. I'm definitely going to miss them more than they know.

I am acutely aware of the days ticking by as I travel well known country roads in my Suburu not taking for granted my love for this place. It's funny how you start to think about things differently when you get ready for a move. I look at the amazing color show of the trees and the mountains a bit more intently than before. I'm trying to sear these images to my brain as I drive around these, sometimes lonely, roads amazed even more than ever at the beauty that surrounds my home.

I told the realtor that she really needs to get people here now while these colors still abound. My house is literally surrounded on all sides by radiant reds, lemon yellows, and awesome orange colors. I took out my camera a couple of days ago. I had to rush out to get a battery wanting to capture my last fall here before the peak had ended. We are now on the other side of peak with more and more leaves falling off the trees as each day passes.

The fall has been unusually warmer than usual. We've been commented on this almost everyday at practice. Usually by this time, we're shivering, wearing hats, gloves and running tights. But just two days ago it was still in the 80's. Today it was a bit cooler but still short's weather. But that's all about to change. Drastically.

As October was warmer than usual, November is predicted to be colder than usual. Just in time for our move. Maybe that will perk me up. I hate the cold. Maybe then I'll be good and ready for this move. Right now, I'm enjoying my last few days of being a Mainer.

Two Weeks and I'll be a Floridian.

Good luck with the move.  If not for the winters, your area would be a perfect place to live.  I will stick to the warmer climates for now.  And yea, it has been a very warm October.

Yes, this is true. If I ever come back, I say I'd move right back here. The winters are long but the rest of the year is very nice.

Thanks LW for the nice pics. You've got the idea now think trees/leaves instead of sky/water. Are those Florida Pics?

Maybe when I get a moment I'll share my pics I took around here as well. I'm just not that good at getting the right size uploaded for some reason. I have to play around with it.
