Houston We Have No Problems

I've had a very busy week. What's new? Seems as tho my life is in overdrive lately.

The top story here is the grandbaby has come to Maine for the first time ever. He's adorable....of course. He's a got a book full of funny faces to show us. He's quite the little man full of expression and quite the little charmer...just like his daddy.

Today I took Amanda and Ethan to church for a ladies study and a produce pickup. Of course he stole the show. Without fail you clap your hands and he does so as well with a very toothy smile. He's got six brand new teeth to show off afterall. Everytime we'd clap, he would too, no matter what. He had us all cracking up. He just doesn't laugh, he has this deep seated giggle that accompanies the hands meeting together. What a riot.

He also growls. We call him Damian when he does so. Evidently my son decided this would be fun to teach him. So every once in a while he growls; a deep throated baby talk growl. Hard to explain but he's got it down pretty well.

He hates riding in the car. He loves to cry while riding in the car. Nothing like a screaming baby while driving to set one on edge. I just cranked my CD's up. It works pretty good. I think he figured out it wasn't worth trying to compete. It pretty much shut him up. I figured out he likes female singers to male. I guess he did better for me than Amanda's Dad. He cried all the way from NH to Maine not missing a beat. Everytime he gets in her Dad's truck he starts going at it.

I think I should get her Dad a CD....preferably one by Jennifer Rothchild. Her beautiful soft voice puts Ethan right to sleep.

But we think we found a solution. Bubbles. Yep. Bubbles. I got him some bubbles thinking he'd like it. He more than likes them. He likes them so much he actually seems as tho he's in a trance like state when he sees them. He shuts up and just looks around dreamy eyed not even moving a muscle. He hardly blinks for that matter. So I told Amanda to invest in bubbles. Put them in the car, near the highchair, next to his diaper changing table etc. Today she took them with her when we went out. While I made a stop, she stayed in the car, and he started screaming. Out came the bubbles. She said he shut right up.

Amanda has been wonderful in her sending us pictures over these past 10 months but there's just nothing like holding your child's child in your lap and looking into his eyes and seeing his little smile. Nothing compares. Priceless. Just think, this is just the first one. There's certainly to be more to follow.

I still have the pink and white Nikes to the first one who has a girl.

Glad she made it ok.

My snuggle buddie just invited me to come sit with him so I gotta run!
