Hope Everyone Enjoyed the Day Today

I love a parade. Isn't that an old song? Gah! Forget that......after the Y.M.C.A. background revelation, not sure I want to know.

Anyhow July 4th means parades. Of course I marched in our local parade, not content to just sit by the side of the road....gotta be in the action. Gotta show that patriotism. Today I was dressed up as a coach with a group that dressed up in sports clothing. My husband wore his old football Jersey from HS. His name etched in big letters on the back told everyone who he was although many know him without that bit of help. We waved and connected with many people in the community. It was a perfect day for a parade. We gave out little flags with VBS info on them for the little kids. They loved them, chasing us down in some cases to get one. We only wished we had more running out way too soon.

David looked like James Bond today. Tall, dark and handsome. He was dressed in Top Hat and Tails having been asked two weeks ago to escort Miss NH in the parade. She rode in a shiny red Jaguar with David and another friend of ours, Dan, walking behind the back of the car. Basically all they had to do was look good. And they did.

At one point, I yelled "That's my baby" when I went by David, and he looked at Laura, Miss NH, and said, "Oh Boy, can you tell that's my mom?" Yup. That's me.

After the parade David and Dan were whisked away with Laura for a photo shoot. I hope I get one. I forgot my camera.

Then it was down at the park with thousands of others to chow down those sausage sandwiches and yummy french fries. The rain is coming in as predicted, so we decided to skip the fireworks. It's been a long day anyhow. It all started with a 6 am wakeup call. A 4th of July road race got us up and out early. The good thing is our run was over by 9 am. The bad thing was I was beat by 4 pm and could hardly keep my eyes open. That's why naps were invented, and I took full advantage of that.

To help celebrate the spirit of the 4th I want to share a story of an amazing lady with you all. This really tugged at my heart and it's sure to warm yours as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Click on the link and grab the kleenex.

I was in a parade today, too, walking with our bank's float. It was a blast.

walking with our bank's float

Or was that floating on your bank's walk?

I yelled "That's my baby"

Actually, I think that is from the Music Man.

Music Man teaches that lying and deceit can get you everywhere, and can teach children musical instruments.

Isn't it tho? I always have a good time. It's hard to be in a parade and NOT be in a good mood. I mean everyone is clapping and waving at you....what's not to like?

One year we had a boom box with music playing from our float. We did it up big, and we could see people dancing and clapping to our music, really getting into it. It was a blast. This year for us was more low key. Some years big, some not so big.
