A Lit'l Bit of This and A Lit'l Bit of That

What a great day today was. It was almost perfect weather wise, a bit cool but very sunny and breezy. I finally got to hang out some laundry after days of rainy weather. The grass is really high after all this rain and needs a mowing badly. David promised he'd do it tomorrow. After planting flowers in my barrels and flower beds I went for a run down to the track. There I met David who left ahead of me. He took the car so I could drive back with him. He wanted to run about 12 miles and I was up for maybe 6 or so.

I am out of shape. I've been sick for two weeks and that's not helping. I'm still left with the residue cough which is not fun. The first three miles to the track didn't feel that great. I did four "fast" laps on the track with a 400 rest between them and actually started to feel better. After that David and I finished with a one mile cool down around the block making it 6.5 for me today.

In order to get me back in shape, I know I have to visit the track more often. This is only the second track workout all spring. I have a running series to do starting next week that runs weekly thru the summer. It's gonna be ugly for me the first few weeks. The big batch of homemade chocolate oatmeal cookies probably didn't help much either. See what happens when the college kid comes home.

We had a lady call the church today looking for help. She said she was pregnant, her boyfriend left and she needed money for travel to go to a pregnancy clinic. Our Associate Pastor told her that there was a new clinic right here in town and he would bring her if she'd like. When she said she hadn't eaten in days, he made plans to meet her. He showed up with a nice lunch for her willing also to drive her to the clinic. She was not pleased. She didn't want lunch, she wanted money, and she refused the ride to the clinic. Scam.

We called this clinic and found out that the owner of the clinic has also been contacted by this same woman looking for money. This new clinic is just starting out and it's main purpose is to help keep desparate women from aborting their babies giving them an alternative instead. She already has enough problems with funding and could use money herself. We have quite a few people in our church getting on board with this to help out in thiis endeavor and also to volunteer their time. I hope also to be in the next training class to be a volunteer. I think it's a great ministry to be working in.

Speaking of babies......I got a very cute pic of my grandson today. He's got two lower front teeth, but not much hair. At seven months he's just about ready to start walking.....already! He's on his feet barely hanging onto things as he moves around so says his mommy. She sent me a couple of pics last week that looked like he was already there. Almost. He looks big and at 20 lbs and 28 inches he's pretty high up on the charts. By the sound of this he takes after his uncles not his daddy. Brian was always on the short side but he did walk pretty early ......not this early but more like 9-10 months or so.

I finished a mid term and a final today after listening to the eight lectures. This was pretty easy for me, unlike the last set. This testing was on the Captivity Stage with the last on the Chaotic Kingdom Stage and was a bear to take. While I'm still awaiting test results from the last final, I know I have at least four wrong but that's all I know right now.

Back to the lectures.... now I understand why my kids didn't like lectures.........heh!
