That is, living thru others
David's on his way home. He left this morning at 10:15 from VA. He went to TRBC first. This is the first service, of course, since Jerry died. His son, Jonathan did well keeping it together as he delivered the message. I guess he did falter some, but David said he did well. He kept it shorter than usual David thought. It seemed heavier on the music.
He's bringing me home lots of newspapers from the area. We get no news here regarding this and I'm not that hooked up as far as cable is concerned. I have just basic cable for reception and that's it. I don't watch a ton of tv anymore anyhow.
I always get nervous when the kids drive home. It's such a long trip. He's called a few times during some traffic lulls. He said it's been pretty slow. I'm thinking he's on 95 which we don't usually take. We take 84 to 81 and it's much easier. I'll have to ask him about that. Anyhow it'll be nice to have him home for the summer. I've made his favorite cookies and will make a homemade mac & cheese later tonight for when he gets in. He's used to late nights and said he'd probably be home around midnight to 1 am. I'm hoping I can stay awake that long to greet him when he does get in.
I've been enjoying not cooking. It's been a good break. I don't care if I have a bowl of oatmeal for dinner. Suits me fine. It's hard to cook for one usually anyhow. Now it's back to proper meals every night....sigh!
My husband is in Poland and has been for days. He will be home the end of the week. He's there to encourage a church and Pastor, but he's also there to be involved in a very successful Drug and Alcohol Addiction program we've been running over there for many years. Many have come to Christ as a result of this program and lives have been forever changed. This program is sort of where AA leaves off so says the executive director of NE.
While in Poland he went to Aushwitz and said it was quite sobering. He saw tens of thousands of shoes all piled up in this one room. He also saw another room with masses of suitcases with names on them. He also saw the wall where the people would stand for the firing squad. He could even see the bullet holes. He saw the ovens and the showers as well. How sad. I can't imagine the evil that must have filled that place at one time. And to think Hitler almost completely took over the world. It's unbelievable that there is a movement out there saying this never happened.
Aly went to work for Fox News for the first time on Friday as an intern. She was not happy at the end of the day. I guess there was a guy who called himself a homosexual and in charge of her. He's some sort of executive producer or something. Anyhow when he found out she was from Liberty, he made all sorts of nasty comments about the college and just Christianity in general. She's very thin skinned and doesn't take this stuff very well. David told her she needs to grow thicker skin and learn that this is going to happen. I was kind of surprised about this knowing it was Fox she was working for. I thought they were pro-Christianity for the most part and pro Liberty as well. Even if so, I guess that doesn't necessarily mean their employees are.
It's been raining for just about a week straight. I'm feeling waterlogged. I went shopping today knowing I needed to have fun food and lots of cereal and milk in the house for David. It was pouring when I was ready to put the groceries in the car. Not fun. I got pretty soaked. I barely got my running in this week. I had to make my move when the rain slacked here and there.
I had lots of plans to work out in the gardens. Washed out. I had plans to catch up on laundry. Since I like to hang my clothes out I was washed out again. My car needs to be washed and vaccumed and I was hoping to do that on the next sunny day. I'm still waiting. So I did not get done as much as I had hoped this week.
But I did get to go out for brunch with the girls this week and then on for a bit of shopping. I bought a new dress that got me lots of compliments this morning. It's not something I usually buy but I have to admit looked better on than on the rack. You just never know.
So now with the cat snoring away and the dog also fast asleep I need to get ready and get them ready to go out as I go back up to church to listen to a mission's update. We had one group go to Hondouras and one to New Orleans. Tonight we get to see some slides and listen to how their week went. It's usually pretty interesting to listen to and see the impact they were able to make in many lives. In Hondouras it was all about pulling teeth. One of the leaders in the group is an Oral Surgeon and that was the whole idea in going. To pull teeth. Many teeth. hahahahh in fact by the end of the night I'll know exactly how many teeth were pulled all week. He's so detailed oriented. That part I could do without.
