Stupid is as Stupid Does

Have you ever done something really stupid? I mean so stupid you even immediately say to yourself..."that was really stupid?"
I do once in a while and that once in a while happened on Friday. It kind of smacks of the same stupidity of nailing that piece of wood to my dining table while I was practicing using a hammer and nail. Now that was stupid and I say so everytime I look at the hole in my table.

Anyhow on Friday we had no electricity as a storm whipped thru our area. As a result of this, our garage door wouldn't go up so my husband put it up manually but not all the way. It went up about 3/4 of the way. My car would not be able to go thru since it's too high with the roof racks and all.

I knew this. I went out to the garage to get some paperwork that I had copied the day before. I ducked my head a bit to get under the door. So I knew this. Anyhow, I went into my car, grabbed the papers, and since I was in shorts, and it was cold I hurried to get back to the house.

That's when it happened. My hand full of the papers, I was looking down examining them when I smacked my head right into the door. I mean hard smacked. Think Laurel and Hardy, Three Stooges. I immediately fell hard on my rump with my arms falling back to brace me. My newly copied paperwork went flying all over the place. I was soaked with the melting snow and dirt on the garage floor.

My first thought was "that was really stupid." My second thought was that was a hard cement floor I fell on. My third thought was my paperwork. Ughhh all over the place. I collected the wet messy papers and went into the house, madder than a hornet at myself. I put the papers all around the wood stove to dry out. Some were so bad they had to be thrown away. I was so soaked and dirty I had to change immediately. Then I realized I had on a brand new shirt with long white sleeves that were now all soaked with brown water.

My first feeling was that I had been punched in the stomach. I guess I landed so hard that it affected my insides. Today two days later, it's still very uncomfotable. I'm now wondering if I didn't do some sort of damage. The last two nights it's been very uncomfortable sleeping. My stomach feels like it's twisted or knotted or something way deep inside causing me discomfort when I turn or bend down especially. Last night it was a tough night sleeping.

I can't believe I did that. What was I thinking? Evidently I wasn't thinking. That was really stupid.

Get to the doctor about the stomach.  It may be a hernia.

And we have all done things like that.  Cursing ourselves just does not have the satisfaction it use to tho.

Yep, you could have just banged your head on the wall instead!

Ouch, sounds like it hurt. Hope it is better now.

ya know, I was wondering that as well.....but is that how you get a hernia? I have no idea. would you know that quickly?

Actually today, I'm feeling better and seemed to sleep a bit better last night. I'll give it a few more days.

I still can't believe I did that.

thanks, it does......thanks for the laugh. It's funny for years I used to say after talking with my youngest son......wait a minute, I've got to go bang my head against the wall. I'll be right back. He used to drive me crazy with some of his comments and ways he went about things.

Hahahahah, and just think, I can't even blame him for my latest stupidity.

A hernia is just a tearing of the muscle and can happen a lot of ways.  Bumping your head would not do it, but the fall might have.

hahaha well I did figure that one out!! I mean I might be stupid, but I'm not dense.....

Have you ever ate something bulky like bread or something like that and it felt like it didn't digest well? That's kind of how I was feeling for two days and it would come and go by turning and twisting a certain way. That's why at night it was so painful. But today I seem so much better, so I think it's okay now.
