Little Things Can Make One Happy
Ok, I'm not making a big deal out of this, but I hung out clothes for the first time since last fall!!! I know, I know....little things. But I really enjoy hanging out clothes on the line vs drying them in the dryer. I already devoted a whole blog to this last Spring so if you want details, you can go back in time..........heh.
Today was a beautiful sunny day. Cool, but nice. There's still snow on the ground but enough patches of grass (still soggy) for me to maneuver over to the outside line which has crushed stone underneath it. While I was hanging up clothes, Quincy Dog was at my feet with his tennis ball as usual. I guess the long winter didn't dull his memory.
Everytime he sees me go out with the clothes basket he starts running around the house in search for a ball. Any ball will do preferably a nice green tennis ball. If for some reason he doesn't find one, he sometimes shows up with a baseball. But he'll drop that in a second if he spots one of his hundreds of balls all over our 11 acre property. He then plops down on the ground in a tense sort of way with the ball at his nose looking up at me...actually not taking his eyes off me.
Anyhow, there he was, patiently waiting for me to finish. When I do, I always lob his ball as far as I can, hopefully in the woods to give him a few minutes of excitement as he prances about looking for that small round idol. Usually all I have to do is look at him as I'm finishing with my last items of clothing and he starts to quiver. His whole body starts with a slight shiver turning into a full fledged external panic attack by the time I reach down and pick up that little ball. His eyes don't leave my hand as he starts to run in the direction my body is facing.
I know just like me, he's content with little things. I guess the ball doesn't fall far from the tree.
