Just got back from x-country skiing. Felt great but the snow is kind of icy and choppy so not the best of conditions but got a bit of exercise nonethless. It was fairly warm, probably in the 40's. Hey, that's like a heat wave for us. My running has been sorta in the cellar, need to get my butt in gear. It's going to be March this week!! I only ran three times this week and last week. If I don't get myself going, I'll be a sorry sort in the Spring. X-country skiing is a great compliment to my running tho.

Spent the day yesterday with two of my boys on the phone. Well actually I talked to all three but two off and on all day. They both are having women problems. One looks like he is thru with his girlfriend of four years and his heart is broken. The other is supposedly just separated for a short breathing spell with his gal. I'm hoping they sort things out because we just love Aly to pieces. She'd make a great d-i-l someday.

My youngest son had Jerry Falwell come to his class for a Q & A session. It's a small class with only about 20-30 students. I guess Falwell graduated with a journalism degree and since this was a journalism class he came in to give them pointers about working in the media. Many of the questions had to do with the upcoming election. Someone asked if he ever considered running for President. He said no, never. He has not endorsed anyone yet, and I guess there are some that are watching to see who he does endorse. He has somebody in mind that he'd like to see run but money is the problem. He told the class that it takes about $500,000,000 now to run for President. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I thought maybe my son misunderstood until I saw the same figure mentioned on the evening news last night with Charlie Gibson. WOW.

Unbelievable!!! We're talking 500 mil apiece!!! For what? So they can gripe, moan, and fight with each other via the media? It cost lots of money to do that? Just think of all the good that could be done with that much money. How many are running? Unreal

Back to the breakup thing. My elder son was having a very hard time with the breakup of his long-term relationship with this girl like I said. About an hour or so into this whole drama he got a comment on his facebook from a girl he's never met that was coming to UK to run in some sort of big race there. She's a post grad like him and somehow heard about him and wanted to meet him. She was from the University of GA and is 22 years old. She sounds like a female version of him. He was intrigued. Not only was she a runner, but she is very good. She has a time of 16:17 for a 5K which is about 5:15 a mile which is faster than he can run right now He's got the school record (HS) for the mile at 4:25 so he's no slouch either but he's way out of shape right now. So not only was he intrigued but a bit intimidated as well. She was she going to run that race and also a shorter one that was close to a two mile. In college this is unusual. Usually you pick one race to run not two. Sounds like a go getter to me.

At first he just kept saying, this is weird; bizzare. But of course I think it's a "God thing" and he saw it as a possibility as well. When God shuts one door, he usually does open a window......but this was a pretty quick window. He had just told me before this all happened he was going to check out the races before he even got this email from her. So he went to the race today and she got second in the 5K and I think 7th in the shorter race last night which turned out to be 5:00 a mile. Whew....she's fast. Who knows where this will lead. They are now in contact with each other. I just want him to be happy.

I'm always getting books from different people that want me to read and let them know if it's okay or usually just wanting to get my take on it. I got a book this week and is a bit different than the usual. Maybe you've heard of it? It's called "My Dog Marley." I guess it's a NY Times Best Seller. The lady who gave me the book knows how my life is with my own Quincy Dog so she thought I might enjoy this book. Who knows, maybe there will be a book called "My Dog Quincy" someday. I'll have to have Tova write it for me hahahaha. Just what she wants to do....write a dog book.

Well it's time to light the woodstove as the sun has now gone down. Hmmmmm maybe I'll start on that book.

Watch out for fast women, I always say.

Seriously though, as long as he doesn't make that joke, he should be in good shape. I hope everything works out for the best, which is how God works anyway.

heh!! As the mother of three boys....this was my mantra..... Thanks Jythier.

I misquoted the book title. It's not "My Dog Marley." It's "Marley and Me." I started it and have gotten to Chap 4 so far. It's cute.
