It's going to be a long hard winter. That's what I've heard. We live in the NE and in an area known to get pretty much the higest snow levels in our part of the state. It's usually the hottest here in the summer and coldest in the winter. The local weathermen usually use our town as a barometer usually as the highest high or lowest low. Grrrrrrrrrr or should I say brrrrrrrrrr?
So I had this great idea. Let's go on a cruise. We've never been on one and we have an opportunity to go for a cruise to the Bahamas. So I'm checking into the passport stuff and have just received the cruise info. I'm thinking it would be nice to be somewhere warm in January when it's usually pretty cold here. I am already looking forward to running in warm weather in the middle of winter. It will keep me motivated here to stay in shape. We've never been out of the country, unless you count Canada.
One of the reasons my husband is even considering this adventure is because it's also pretty close to our 25th Anniversary. It's also a Christian Cruise and that appeals to him. We mentioned this to a few people and another couple we know has requested they would like to go along with us. They, like us, have never been on a cruise either.
But I have questions. I've heard that you don't want to have a cabin at either end of the ship because it gets the most movement and sickness could be a problem. Is this true? I was told to pick a cabin in the middle of the boat only. Now we don't have the propensity for sickness. We have pretty strong stomachs so I'm wondering if that would make a difference. Does it really matter that much? Would it be better NOT to go rather than have a cabin at either end of the ship? We are a bit late I think for signing up for this cruise. If you do get sick, do you finally aclimate to the point that the sickness leaves?
I've never been to the Bahamas. Has there been anyone that has been there and can give me pointers as to what to check out? I heard our first stop is Freeport. I was thinking maybe I should bring a couple of chairs just to be able to sit on the beach. I have those portable chairs that would be nothing to take. Should I bring those? I'd hate to be on the beaches with nothing to sit on.
When we went to Nags Head in So. Carolina I was wishing we had chairs when we went to the desert place which opened up to a huge body of water. I remember saying, "next time we come, we're bringing chairs and a book." Well I think in November we may go back there on our way to Ohio. If so, I'm planning on taking my book and my chair. Give me a beach, a chair, a book and a diet pepsi and I'm in heaven.
So does anyone out there have any cruising advice for me? I'd sure appreciate it. Otherwise, we'll just hope we make the right decisions not knowing anyone that's really been on one.
I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, *doing a little cruise jig* I'm going on a cruise!!!
